I'm also refurbing that odd twin boom thing and thinking about the old Frog DH110 too.

Twin boom thing will reappear shortly in resin with wheels when I figure out a reasonable breakdown of parts - probably a RN and RAF guise as they differed in wheel layout

DH110 is based on a FAW3 Sea Vixen badly hacked about with some printed parts, oddments of styrene sheet, filler and a canopy gleaned from I know not where. If you're refurbing it then I apologise in advance for whatever you find lurking under the paint - I was trying to print boom segments and a new nose cone but I was never happy with the result. Hopefully you get more out of it than I did

It's a Frog original DH110, not your one. I snagged it off eBay a few months back, along with a Frog Meteor F8.  Quick strip, sand, fill, sand and respray. I hope.

Good work with the FD3 and Swifts, Lee.

The FD3 is a good looking machine - apart from (to me) the windscreen.  I know it reflects the state of 50s glass technology but can't help feel that had it reached production it'd been redesigned.

Yeah, sure.  Not much to see though.  If I remember, I'll stick something small in a box and bring it down to Telford.

Cheers mate.

I did some casting of soldiers years ago using resin moulds and aluminium, just fascinated to see how the process differs.

Same basic principles, just different materials.

Note your comments about Xtracrylic Lee. I've not got any in the new translucent bottles so haven't noticed it ? Do  you get the same problems brush painting ?

Must admit I've not bought any for ages as I've moved to Hataka for most builds, still using Xtracrylic for RAF though as I have so much of it. Might buy some Hataka sets at Telford if anyone has the "Blue" boxings.

Don't know about brushing, I don't do much of it. Virtually every one of the translucent bottles has given me grief.

And I am VERY sick of Dark Sea Grey and Dark Green!

You've probably caused a run on the basic pigments used as well  ;D

Like your Middle East Ventura idea.  They were used by the RAF and Commonwealth air forces in the MTO, but not in the ASW role.
Back story fodder: either one of the RCAF Ventura units was transferred to the MTO or the RAF took on Harpoons in the MTO but still called them Venturas.

One of the Venturas is the solid nose Harpoon but I've removed the turret base. The other one is a proper Ventura, but the Martin turret from the Harpoon will replace the awful Boulton-Paul one.
