What if the Soviet Union annexed Czechoslovakia in '38 rather than Nazi Germany?

How? They didn't share a border in 1938. The Soviet Union would have had to go through Poland or Romania.

Thanks to a tip-off from The Wooksta! I scored a 1/72 Hobbycraft CF-100 Canuck Mk 5.  Been after one for eons, Modeldecal 349 Sqn markings have waited a veeeery long time for it.

Two Mk 4s in the stash - one now in the sales bag but undecided about the other.

Convert it to the swept version?  I'd be happy to take it off your hands though.

Very true Jon, but you might have got a situation where, for various reasons, the German's agreed to let the Soviets have Slovakia whilst keeping the Czech lands in Sept 39 after they'd divided Poland ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

See first line of my sig below.

Soviet Union had already absorbed Hungary and Romania at the same time as the Anschluß Österreichs was going on.  Stalin knew Mussolini was reluctant to completely throw in his lot with Hitler and took advantage of Nazi Germanys lack of allies.
That or secret Russian tunnels under Poland.

Of course Jon's map might not match my reality...

Or, given the lack of actual German tanks the Wehrmacht were using Czech built ones, the Soviets captured some during the early fighting.

I'd never heard of such a plane but it looks good so, on order is a Valom 1/72 Boeing XF8B-1.
Has anyone on here ever built one of these?

I have and it was like it was for The Wooksta hard to build. Did mine in a USN Dark Blue finish and cobbled together some F4U Corsair markings for it.

Well, seems like one of those kits that will benefit from careful dry fitting and adjustment of the parts.
I always do it anyway to avoid any nasty surprises but thanks for the words, i will pay extra attention to these issues.

I have just remembered that the joint between the wing and the fuselage required MUCH fettling down and shims inserted into the joint to get it to fit.

Ok, this kit will be fun to build... ;D
Thanks for the warning!

Assemble wing, assemble fuselage, put the fuselage on the wing and the run a scalpel down the wing using the fuselage as a guide, then cut out the top of the wing marked.

While looking at the sprue pics on the web, and with the wing/fuselage issue in mind, at first i thought of cutting it at the center of the top wing half to be able to fit the wings individually and the deal with the fuselage but then I remembered that the top of the wing was probably the cockpit floor so i thought of doing something similar to what you were describing.
I'm getting very curious about that kit, can't wait to have my hands on it!

Received today

1 x 1/48 Flying Start Models, Harrier Ferry Drop Tanks via the Harrier SIG

1 x 1/72 Zotz ZTZSP2 Roundels of the World Part 2 Southern Africa. Looking at some of the decals through the packageing, I think a Burundi aircraft will have to be built as no one knows the roundel  ;D
