From the eBay Fairy, Airfix 1/72 Mosquito B.XVI.  Unfortunately it continues the trend of sellers packaging models in envelopes so it arrived with a crushed box.  Fortunately the contents seem intact.  Seems a beautiful kit in the box and continues Airfix's trend of doing very common sense things with their kits.  In this one there are parts to use as paint masks over the gear bays if building it gear down.  Such a simple, yet useful thing to include. 

I received another box that was supposed to be  Revell Vampire F.3 to go with the Mossie for a Christmas themed display that some of you can probably figure out.  Unfortunately that seller sent me the wrong box and I got a set of Tamiya 1/35 Army Accessories.  The seller seemed at a loss how to solve the issue until I suggested he put me in touch with the buyer who was expecting my delivery and got a Vampire instead and we ship them to each other with him refunding the shipping costs.  He agreed to this but the Vampire recipient has yet to get his package. 

Hoping this doesn't turn into a major hassle as I'd like to get this display done within a few weeks. 

Ouch, that's not a good buyer experience and a mayor delay. It'll be Christmas soon.

I've got a 1/72 vampire in the stash if you need it, you can have it.

1 x 1/72 Airfix Hawker Tempest Mk V. This will have one of Colins P.1027 conversions added to it.

Also popped into HobbyCraft and left with a spray tin of Gloss Black paint to act as an undercoat for the Chrome paint I bought yesterday.

A Matchbox Fiat G91 arrived this morning, courtesy of Kitbasher. If it matches the plans, it may be kitbash fodder for a Supermarine Type 557 Swift trainer.

If it doesn't, it goes in RAF markings, as one appeared as such, in the Doctor Who story "The Faceless Ones".

A pack of K & S shim brass sheet and a bag of assorted tubing.
A old pre built Monogram car..the decals say Ice Tea and it's old but as always it's missing what looks like a fuel tank from behind the front wheels....a sand dragster this will be.
Assorted mix of Easyway white metal rail parts..Easyway is a company from here in NZ..bout a hour south of me in fact in Hamilton.
Now a good annoyance..2 weeks ago I brought a $25 pair of Tamiya flush cut nippers..they were not flush..not even bloody close to flush ..so took em back and with the refund brought another pair but these had a price of $67 ..not after the discount

I got a new one last week to replace my current away kit as it was getting too small. Just ver six notes from Wilkinson's.

And a spare set of them JML glasses with the magnification lenses.

On the original subject, the EBay fairy brought an old Zvezda MiG-31B today. Got it very cheap, and it's quite ok for such an old kit, so I'll allow myself to be quite pleased.
Also caught some odd sets of surplus Humbrol enamels, among them a few much needed that I hadn't been able to source as hoped. They have yet to arrive, though.

Delivered today from Austria via ebay from a fellow called Martin... 



First impression was simply amazement at the size of the wings... they're as big as the 1/48 Spitfire wings of the clipped wing tip type...
I had the notion that it was a big bird but i didn't expect that much wingspan... lots of space for ordnance, right? 
The vacformed canopies are a bit yellow so i'll probably end up using a spare canopy from another kit.
Resin parts are all good, but the engine cowling seems like i'll have to be very careful when cutting it out of the casting block as it is attached at the front portion. Gotta be careful or i may end up sanding off more than i'm supposed to...
Anyway. it doesn't look too complicated but will need some careful work in certain areas. It's a beauty of plane so it's worth it.
