WIP Saab Safir masquerading as a Bücker 281, which is my take on a '181 development. Yes, I know the Germans didn't use flat engines, but it's 1946 and if I'd cast a Bestmann engine, I'd've had no room for any lead...

Anyway, it's a WHIF, so I'm leaving it as-is. Markings are unfinished, but I've got some Bü-181and Me-108 decals in the spares bin to use.

Surely by 1946 VW and Porsche would have developed their flat 4/6 engines enough to be considered for aircraft?

Finished. Virtually no weathering, (thank you, Zenrat,  ) simple late-war camouflage scheme and markings based on '181s.

I thought I remembered a twin-boom derivative of the Bu-181 was projected, was it this Bu-281? Your pictures denied that all right.
Then I checked my twin-boom database, and the one I thought was the Bu-181 II. I show it here, from my book "Supplement to Forked Ghosts" and I add a new Bu-381 for fun.
