The plan to make Black Friday and July 4th celebrations illegal would apply to the UK only. Too many in the UK are sick of US customs being imported and used to sell quite frankly tat.

Honestly, July 4th should never have been exported out of the country, since it's a national holiday.  I, vaguely, remember it being even restrained during my year in Iceland, and rather enjoyed the NYE fireworks that lit up the Reykjanes peninsula were more robust than whatever AFI/COMICEDEFOR threw together for the 4th.

Not just the UK; this particular Former Colonial is about ready and willing to write a stern letter to the editor to rail against the introduction of the Halloween extortion and the Black Friday sales drive to the country. :banghead:  :banghead:

Definitely Trafalgar Day. Dad always used it as an excuse to raise a glass to Nelson as he said he'd been under orders to do so whilst in the RN.  ;D

Not to single out any particular nation, but why not add 18th June (Waterloo), 3rd July (Mers el Kebir), 26th August (Crecy), and 25th October (Agincourt)?.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

4th of July doesn't seem to have really come to Australia, luckily, but Halloween certainly has; ousting Guy Fawkes Night in the process.

Black Friday is about balancing the books with a profit to end the financial year ... in the USA.

As Australia's financial year runs 1st July to 30th June it seems rather pointless having all these sales here.

However, as businesses become more international, through interwebz sales, I guess I can understand the business desire to get on the bandwagon but ...

FOR GODS' SAKE COULD YOU KEEP YOUR BLOODY ADVERTISING IN THE F---ING U. S. OF F---ING A! :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

[Note: This comes after several weeks of having to go through & delete 50+ emails/day, every day, advertising things I don't, & never did want.]

You and me both. The last couple of months have been like living under an email advert waterfall!  :banghead:  :banghead:

A clarification about Black Friday, as a Yank.  Its about US retailers balancing the books with the profits earned at the start of the Christmas shopping season (along with all the resulting traffic congestion and other issues that crop up for the local chapters of Keystone Kops).  Wiki on it here

Well back to the modelling   ;D

Got some primer onto the Hornet this morning and whilst looking through the shelves for something nice and easy (or at least well fitting) to build while waiting for paint/putty to dry stumbled across a couple of old Airfix boxings of a Fairey Battle (in a really weird olive green plastic ?) and a Westland Lysander. So brain thought "how about a radial engine'd Battle in service with the L'armée de l'air circa May 1940 ? Might get around to it, we shall see.

As for the "easy" kit ? Might have a crack at one of my Airfix Mossies or the Buccaneer. Then again maybe one of the Special Hobby P 40's . Whatever it will probably be "real world".

Haven't done any modelling this week, nor much of anything else. I caught an absolute stinger of a cold, and I'm not blaming you Nick. Started coming down with in Tuesday and spent Wednesdayy just slumped in an armchair feeling sorry for myself. Worst cold I've had in a very, very long time. Starting to feel a bit better now, and I should hope so as I have a busy weekend ahead.
