A silly question I'm afraid, but what's a Wind Energy Fair ? Is it just a name given to a fair, like "Spring Fair" etc or does it have something to do with wind energy ? An inquisitive mind needs to know  ;D

They use the turbines as giant tilt-a-whirls.

You're welcome, mate.

I'm in the wind business, working with these big wind mills you see all around. I've been doing various things in this business since 2008, making me ridiculously senior these days as it's a rather young business.
Being an electrician and power system engineer, my main theme has been engineering in various ways, dealing a lot with power grids but also civil and turbine stuff.

As the Scandinavian part of the wind business isn't that big, most of the 500 people attending tomorrow will be people I know and have known for quite a while. So good fun. But it'll be a long day, and I'll pay a price later in the week.

Back home, and loads of work as a fallout from an otherwise very nice fair event yesterday. Knackered now.

Still managed to get a second coating of the abominably thin German olive green (Revell 361/RAL 6003) on two projects, but that's it. Hoping for a quieter Friday.

Scouting the local Evilbay version, and a Williams Bros C-46 has turned up. I already have one, but.. would it be greedy to catch this one too? They're really nice big birds, the Commando's..

Yes, the C-46 is surprisingly large. You think it ought to be around the same size as a Dak, but it DWARFS the Dak considerably.

I've got that Williams kit too, but have yet to even start it, and I was lucky enough to go aboard a C-46 during a trip to the USA. The cockpit is HUGE, and the side windows come down well below your knees!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

As the two latest German projects are nearing completion, maybe I should post some photos etc. Accordingly, some project threads will appear as soon as I can get arsed to complete my backstories.
The first can be found >>HERE<<

God willing, I might actually get another one on the forum tonight, depending on how heavily in demand my cooking services will be. Don't hold your breath, however

Managed to get the Hun uploaded as well, and that can be viewed >>HERE<<

Not withstanding the above, yours truly did have to cook, but for once, I managed to do so without turning the entire kitchen into a war zone, thereby significantly reducing the time needed to clear the decks. And accordingly, some time for other things cloud be spared.

Closing the day in the sofa, I'm pretty chuffed with how the Luftwaffe theme is developing. While there still are a few completed models to display, I have some backstory writing left, and as the backstories are very much integrated in the way I plan and execute my models, I am somewhat reluctant to show one without the other. Or, at least, the model without the story. The other way around is more acceptable as most models start as an idea to a backstory.
For the MiG's, I have a reasonably ready story available, but there's still some tweaking needed to finally tie things down. Most likely, I'll split the story in one, common, background and several stories, one per aircraft type. Or something.

On other topics - every year, the RSwAF wings perform formation flights over their respective regions in December. It's a way of celebrating Christmas but also a nice way to practice both flying in pretty tight formation for an extended period of time, as well as in planning and executing a larger mission. In my "hood", the resident wing is the Central Flying School, and they'll be showing of on Tuesday, God and the weather willing, but as a nice extra, the no 73 Sqn (transport) flies an extra, and there is indeed something extra with a three ship Hercules flight passing on 1000ft GND.

If you don't get the sound on this page, click on the film above. Then it should work. The noise caused by 12 big honking turboprops is really nice!

Just looking at the final touches on the latest Luftwaffe project, and it's really shaping up nicely. This too is an old model, one I bought in my early teens, built and painted, just to, some years later, realise that I had chosen colours to match the box illustration rather than looking at the hue call-out in the instructions. Also, the version I'd chosen (based on the user/decals) turned out not to be the version/function I perhaps had wanted. So in time, I got another kit, modelling the one I had wanted all along, and eventually also repainted this one. That repaint, however, never turned out as good as I'd hoped, but I just moved on. As you do.

Anyway, having gotten started at refurbishing old builds, this one just appeared in an old box, and it just begged for a little love. So far, it is looking good. And it is a treat working on a project with so many memories attached.

Anyway - you'll see more shortly.
