What if an 1/48 spitfire was turned into a light bomber

Don't forget propeller ground clearance. That's a good reason for above the wings.
The F-82 Twin Mustang had props above the wings too. Something about the direction of the prop swing made a huge difference in lift. On its first takeoff attempt it wouldn't lift off so they had to switch the engines so the props swung in the opposite direction to get lift over the middle wing. Just some more mud in the water.

Thanks for all your replies.

The issues about ground clearance also appeared to me. This is not only an issue is taxiing on the ground but in and after rotation too. I guess there is a balance between ground clearance (the higher the engine is over the wing, the more ground clearance) versus drag / airflow issues (related to nacelles over the wing).

@Ed S. Love your twin radial engined spit and combo with "normal" spitfire.

@Mossie: Love the supermarine type 327 too!

I guess this picture of a Piper Twin Apache puts even more mud in the water:

Check how the prop and engine is over the wing.

Umm, that's what I had said...

The twin P-40 concept had it's inline engines above the wing, and almost every modern civil twin I can think of with a low wing has the engines mounted above...
Just go with what you think looks "right"

BTW I like the look of your Spitfire with the motors over the wing.  ;)

Ok, time for some updates.

The Velour has a cockpit, the canopy was cut and a A-26 nosesection was found to put on as extreme nose. So it's got a nose!

I'm still planning to put a turret with 4x 0.303's ( from a Lancaster?) in the gap the former cockpit/canopy left.

Looking good except someone sawed baseballs in half and glued them all over the aircraft. I'm sure you have a plan for that!

This looks better every time I see it.
I wonder how hard this would be to do with a Mustang. The belly scoop would be a problem.

Make it into a bomb aimers gondola.
