A quick update on the Whiffies 2023 awards procedure.

The nomination thread is now locked and I will shortly start grouping the nominations in the various categories.
This year there are 168 builds nominated, built by 57 different members.

As is the tradition, the aim is to announce the winners roughly at the same time those "other" awards are announced, so that would be in the weekend of 12th of March. I will put the polls up in the weekend of February 18th and they will run for two weeks.

The awards ceremony will be on Sunday the 12th of March 2023. The exact timing will follow.

Please be sure to attend the awards ceremony in a suitable attire. Those not properly dressed will be removed from the premises!

Last year we witnessed some rather outrageous behaviour among the attendees. We are still busy repairing the gents toilet as we speak. It proves rather difficult to remove all the pink paint, which BTW proved to be RAF Desert Pink. We wish to make clear that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated again. Any members caught demolishing Academy property will be banned and their stash impounded and sold in auction.

I'm make sure that my Zardok outfit has a bow tie this year.

I don't care what the security footage appears to show, it wasn't me.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

And what, exactly, is wrong with the Bogan Tuxedo I wore last year? :angry:

Bloody bouncers made a fuss until I pointed out that a blue Bond's singlet, blue (or, ocassionally, khaki) Stubbies shorts & a pair of thongs (flip-flops/jandals/etc.) is the national dress of the Australian Bogan! :wacko:

[Note: I'm not a Bogan but I was feeling a bit Bogan-ish, last year. :angel: ]

Just a point of clarification;  is a wetsuit considered appropriate attire or not?  We REALLY need to clear this up once and for all.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

kitbasher

Well if a wetsuit isn't I guess a birthday suit isn't.

A wet T-shirt might be considered but a wet-SUIT is out I'm afraid.

Rheged

Dress should be smart, appropriate and (ideally) non-magnetic, fire resistant and waterproof.  Hats , including those capable of distorting tempero-spacial parameters, may only be worn if they do not obscure the view of other guests.

The Academy have announced that if your virtual transport to the event does not hold one of the following:-

 a current MOT test certificate (or equivalent);
a certificate of airworthiness;
a valid steam boiler pressure test permit;
a formal letter signed by a qualified  hydraulic engineer attesting to the safety of the installation;
insurance data  from Lloyds of London/Det Nordske Veritas;
an approval document from His Majesty's Chief Inspector of Holes, Drains and Outfalls at the Board of Trade
a brown paper envelope containing negotiable currency

then the valet parking service may refuse to accept the vehicle.

And whichever one of you turned up last year in the Thornycroft Antar tank transporter please give some advance notice as it needs to  occupy at least 26 spaces in the car park.

Sorry! :-\

By the way, has anyone seen the Merkava IV AS that I had on the trailer? :unsure:

It seems to have gone missing during last year's Awards Ceremony, caused a lot of fuss at the Royal Australian Marines Armoured Corps School where I borrowed it from. :banghead:
