Gondor

This is a double build useing two different kits for a conversion set to produce a variant of the Hawker Tempest that was planned but never came about due to the power plant, The Rolls-Royce R.46 which eventually became the Eagle, fifteen of which powered the Westland Wyvern.

The P.1027 as the planned aircraft was known, was dropped in favour of the P.1030 with both projects cancelled later in favour of projects powered by jet engines.

So here is a picture of the kits and the conversions

Sorry for the glare but they do have to make the box's shiney.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Gondor - I used Freightdog's conversion kit on the KP kit to build one for SMC 22 and found it v good.  You may wish to cut off the mould plug on the engine block that attaches to the fuselage, and simply glue it as a butt joint: I found that the best way to make sure it fitted well.

Will keep that in mind

It's a quote from "The Tempest" by a certain W. Shakespeare

Ah! Not one of my favourite Shakespeare plays, so I forgive myself for my ignorance. ;D

I don't really know Shakespeare, just the commonly know bits. I did name my cat Spot so I could misquote Macbeth at him.

Well that was the intent, however in low light conditions it is difficult to spot the cat

After a look at reference material I realised that the Hataka paint I was going to use is too dark for the interior green, I decided to use Lifecolour #2102 instead for both aircraft using the instructions from Airfix as a guide for the painting of both kits as their instructions corresponded with my references. I have a KP F.2 I had part started and erroneously painted the whole of the cockpit Black, so some of that was painted in Humbrol 78 and will be used as a comparison to the Lifecolour Interior Green.

I also decided to improve the interior a little and ordered a couple of eduard EDSS772 sets for the interior of both kits. I will get it to fit into the KP kit even though it's designed for the Airfix kit.

No pictures yet, well who wants to watch paint dry?

In my book (and my paint drawer, Humbrol 87 is Steel Grey. Assume you're meaning Humbrol 78?

Darn it, got the numbers transposed. Now corrected to 78

The Wooksta!

Tempest cockpits should be black. All HSA aircraft had their cockpits painted black from 1943 onwards.

It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep . Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

Further painting has been done. Use of interior green is wrong for Hawker Aircraft after 1943 apparently so the parts I had painted with Lifecolour and Humbrol 78 have been repainted in Hataka NATO Black.

I found the missing control Column!  :drink: I was repainting the KP seat for the P.1027 and wondering why it was unpainted as I was sure that I had painted it green previously. Low and behold, in the pile of sprues for the P.1027 builds there was another KP sprue which had a seat on it and it was green, not only that both the sprue in my hand and the sprue in the pile had control columns on them! Mystery solved, I had sorted it and not realised the part was there!
