So not much can really happen until I receive the eduard cockpit sets which have been dispatched, hopefully they will arrive on Monday, but I am also back to work then as well so not as much time to build as I have had earlier this year.
So, what I have done is to wash the resin parts and to mark up what needs removing from the Airfix kit.

First off is the nose

and here is what needs removing from under the wings

Nothing needs to be removed from the upper wing surfaces because I am removing the wing leading edge from the resin engine block

There is likely to be some filling and filing to get everything to fit, but then the conversion set is not designed for the Airfix kit but I like the kit and my only previous build of it was as GN.A NX126 of No.249 Squadron based at Habbaniya, Iraq in 1947 and the build used another Freightdog conversion set with the decals coming from another KP Tempest F.6 KPM0225 "Over Egypt".

A few minuites with a couple of fine saws results in......

This...

This....

And this....

The lower wing also had the previously marked areas cut out and together with the insurt for the sides of the undercarriage bays looks like this...

I did test fit the parts together. I was careful to cut the fuselage a little foreword of the panel line so I could trim back as requited but the dry run looked as if it should be about right. Some filling will be needed as I trimmed the leasing edges a little too short on the resin nose but that's nothing wither a shim or filler can't fix. The test fit also showed that the top of the engine is a little low where it meets the kit but as it was designed for another kit and I was trying to hold multiple parts with only two hands it could just be a manual alignment issue. Regardless nothing that is unsermountable has been found yet.

Other than cleaning up and removeing a few casting blocks not much will be done untill the eduard detail set has arrived.

I do like a bit of hacking and slashing cause the end results normally turn into something quite unique and cool ..im enjoying this mate  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

Got an email notification from the Royal Mail saying that the etched brass for the cockpits has been delivered, so this evening I will be perusing the instructions and seeing what is worth while adding to the Airfix kit and what will go into the KP kit.

So a bit later.........

Decided to pull this one off the shelf as it should really be easy to build. As no progress had been made I thought it a good idea to finish the cockpit. I took the box of parts off the shelf and looked for the seat etc.... no sprue visible with such parts on it  :banghead:
Half an hour or two later I found another Airfix Tempest V that had it's lid put under the bottom of the box so it was open topped and brimming full of sprues! Result, several sprues that had paint on parts that go inside the fuselage!  :drink:
Glad to have found that box. In the process of finding it though a part from another box was heard to rattle down the side of a metal rack that I use for storage. As it's a storage rack I was not using whatever it was so I'm not going to go looking for whatever it is.
I think I better start glueing some bits together before I lose anything else.

Working on some bits and bobs between work on my two MB.5's and wondered as this would have been a late war aircraft when it first entered service, would it have had its landing lights in the wing leading edge and if so both leading edges or just one, and if only one, which one?
I am going to with the under-wing lights but can always paint over them and cut out leading edge ones if necessary.

Seat Belts  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

And no I don't mean the Group.

https://youtu.be/M_25mVjKwcc?si=seKtRyOW-juXjK6i

I have been adding my own seatbelts made from painted masking tape. Trying to get a sub-millimetre strip of tape in the correct place, then getting it to stick to the seat and not what you have been holding it with!  :banghead:  Then there is the problem of getting it to curve over the back or edge of the seat while trying to keep the end you have in place to stay in place.... there are times I need to be either an Ocotupus or the Goddess Durga  :-\

Got there in the end though so progress so that I can close up the fuselage and add the new engine.

PR19_Kit

So true, and such devilment seems to hold true no mater what scale you're working in!

And I used to earn my living figuring out where to attach REAL ones as well...................
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Trying to get the fuselage put together and I keep on finding things that need to be done before I can do that.  :banghead:

This time I remembered that the gun sight and compus, which are one part, had to go onto the back of the instrument panel.

One slight problem though

OK, so it looks as if it's silvered or something like that.  :banghead:

Out with the floor polish

Not perfect, but better  :-\  maybe not by much but enough considering that it's going to be inside a small opening. I do have a spare decal or an eduard photo etch set I can use. but which  :banghead:  :banghead:
