Right.

There should have been a backstory here, but that'll emerge when/if I complete it. Right now, I'm so stuck that I'm almost losing my will to live when I look at it, and that's NOT how this hobby should manifest itself. Hence. It'll rest for a bit.
Anyway, the idea is that if the Russians tried to backtrack the collapse of the Warsaw Pact in the 90's, anything useful would probably have been considered, much as our yellow and blue friends are doing as we speak? Having been given a nice radar upgrade why shouldn't some MiG's have been granted a second lease of life? In particular if we'd been running out of ex-Soviet weaponry?

Based on that thought (and my obsession with the lovely Norm 81 scheme  ;) ), I have built a few MiG's and as I'm a sucker for attention, I'll splash some photos and bask in your admiration. Or something..

Anyway - here goes nothing:

First a MiG-21MF. Master craft kit, methinks. Awful. But the result is ok.

Then a slightly newer MiG-21bis. ICM kit. Even worse, but again, the camouflage excuses most things

And finally a MiG-23MLA. The old Airfix kit but in this case in a Heller boxing. Good fit, actually, but the radome goes on with a too droopsnooted angle, so I had to fix that. And then shorten the fin extension, obviously.

I like the Flogger best. I saw one in Finland, once, and it's a beast of a machine if you can handle it, and as the Israelis proves once they got their hands on a Syrian machine - a good pilot will outfly any Viper on any day in a MLx Flogger.
Mine got a western radar which takes away one of the two big handicaps it had, the remaining being the pilots view from the cockpit. So a fearful weapon and a seriously cool machine. And the Norm 81 really, really fits here, methinks!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Take your time,  there's plenty to spare!  I shall enjoy the backstory when you feel it suitable for posting.  That MiG is a very competently executed piece of work!

Great builds Pellson mate. ..that reminded me ive got a Mig21 in the pile now and I've got to do something with it which it isn't right now  ;)
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Both look very good but i especially like the Mig-23.

Not a major fan of MiGs but those two look very good!

Nice MiGs.  Good results from suspect kits.

The 21 is the best looking fighter aircraft ever built IMO.  The 23 isn't but grows on one.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I think the Mig 23 looks great in some schemes and "Nahh" in others. It certainly suits this one
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
