A final peek, how boiler and engine will fit into the ship

First test print of a paddle wheel , quick and dirty with some old PLA

The first paddle wheel was too small, so it had to be enlarged. Last PLA test print

Now printed with the Resin printer, looks better.

And finally, painted and ready to install

Hull is now completed with all the fancy new machinery in it and the first paddle wheel added. Looks ok.

Both paddle wheels added, now this is the REAL Santa Maria

Ok, throwing the model on the ground is no good idea. Luckily the masts were not added yet, bit both paddle wheels got detached again. And the boiler is flying around. My engineer checks how to fix it.

My engineer fixed everything but demands not to throw it on the ground again. I guess, I should listen.

Understatement of the Year  ;)  ;D

I could see this appearing in one of the late Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, especially the Guards series  ;D

Now that the hull is done, lets switch to mats, sails and so one.

The masts:

The sails:

And we need some crew. This is Z-scale model train stuff:

And now being painted:

Starting to add masts and sails to the ship:

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

No, they were part of the kit, vacu-formed. But the dimensions were a bit strange for some of them.

Adding the last masts and sails

The crew is ready to enter the ship. The one in white is Christopher Columbus

Now the real fun begins - add the rigging.
