A few of those AMX kits will be joining my stash when they come out. I know just how to speed up the release dates too.

All I have to do is get close to finishing the limited run kit I started years ago.

Alpine operator perhaps? That of course makes it a Mountain BMX or Mountain bike?

British AMX:

1. P.1154 cancellation takes down the entire V/STOL programme including the Kestrel/Harrier.

2. Dassault takes over Breguet earlier, and their dislike of the Jaguar programme causes that to collapse in it's early stages.

3. UK now needs a Hunter replacement for CAS/BAI that's affordable in greater numbers than MRCA (Tornado). Time and money is short so an off-the-shelf engine (Spey) and simple airframe (no VG) are preferred. If it's small enough, a two-seater could also serve as a Gnat replacement.

4. At the same time, Italy and Germany need a G.91R replacement, so they decide to partner up with the UK under PANAVIA rather than going down the G.91Y/Alpha Jet route.

5. UK buys AMXs &AMX-Ts instead of Harrier, Jaguars and Hawks.
Italy buys AMX instead of G.91Y.
Germany buys AMX & AMX-Ts instead of Alpha Jets.
All PANAVIA AMX's have twin BK.27 cannon.

6. France buys a strike-oriented Mirage F.1 version to replace it's F-100s, and develops the Alpha Jet on it's own.

7. AMX is a greater export success because it happens ten years earlier than in real life, and thus isn't perceived as having an "outdated" engine. Major sales in South America and Africa. Brazil and Japan build near-clones under licence.

Upside:
NATO gets the large numbers of CAS/BAI aircraft that it's new Flexible Response strategy demands.
UK/Italian/German airframe & engine manufacturers get lots of solid work.

Downside:
With no Harrier to develop the Sea Harrier from, the Royal Navy drops out of the fixed-wing aviation business in the late 1970s as originally planned. The Invincibles are completed as flat-deck pure ASW helo carriers. When Argentina invades the Falklands in 1982, service chiefs advise Margaret Thatcher that there's no realistic way to mount an expedition to take them back without air cover. Argentina gets to keep the Falklands.

This was my "BMX" - still working on the single-seat strike version (all over grey/green)

My BMX is for Brazil/Mexico-X. The built model might be operated by one of these or maybe an export customer. It will be part of my alt Desert Storm scenario. Taking from the Jaguar story, it originated as a joint project to replace T-37s and EMB.326s, but was realised as an attack aircraft with a secondary training market; hence the low-risk development of the EMB.339 as an alternative, with the single seat attack EMB.339K as a low cost export only niche option.
Whatever.

Italeri released some photos of the new AMX kit last month. The sprue shots look nice and the decals mention a Pod Reccelite and a Pod Orpheus. 4 Italian options only, clearly not a big market in Brazil.
I will be getting a pair or three. No prices yet on Hannants.

Looks a bit of a mix between a Hawk 200, Mirage F.1 wings and Jeguar intakes and fin..... mmmmm that's an idea

There's a Aircraft in Profile article on the type in April's SAM. History, profiles and plans.

Just checked my pre-order and at the moment I am getting 10% of their list price which is £0.00 which comes to........ Nothing  :banghead:

I can see the after market guys sorting the decal options with the posibility that a second boxing would include Brazilian markings or even a Brazilian company, or a company that covers that geographical region, would come up with a different boxing.

And they have arrived at Hannants! £29.99 each for a small 1/72 jet, ooof!

Can anybody explain how Hannants backorder system works? There's a very long winded email and I am not sure if I need to do anything or simply wait for the postman to deliver.

QuoteWe have sent you this email to let you know that your Backordered item(s), listed below, have now come into stock.

If you want to have more items sent with this item please move it from Backorder into your cart as soon as possible and place your own order. Hannants staff can only send items that are on Backorder not additional items. The customer must add those.

If you do not want to wait for us to release the Backorder you can move it to your cart and place the order yourself. Since Covid we are working with fewer staff and more orders so are not releasing Backorders as quickly as we normally do.

If you do not want the items please log in and cancel them. They will then stop being reserved and we can sell them to other customers.

It means that you can leave it alone and they will get around to sending you the kit and billing you by your method of choice or you can go into your account and simply move it to you Shopping Cart which is what I did on Monday after I got the notification it was in  ;D
If you move it to your shopping Cart you then have more options to pay.

Mid £20's is starting to become the starting point for 1/72 single seaters now, especially those that have to be imported from the EU, and I'm saying nothing else on the subject

As Gondor has said Hannants will get around to your items on Backorder automatically, but in my experience it can take some time.
