They are indeed

Quote from: Pellson on February 05, 2023, 02:14:30 AMAs can be seen, the camouflage works uncannily well in our (current) bathroom, so henceforth, this model will be known as the "Douche Deuce".  ;D

Me again, blabbering on about most other things than plastic, I'm afraid..  <_<

The weather really took a serious piss on me and delivered another half-inch of snow this afternoon. It made me angry enough to actually knock in the bearing races in the new hub as well as the oil seal in the new stub axle. The only thing left now is to grease up the bearing cages properly and then put the inner one in, add the inner hub seal, and then it's all outdoorsy job. Once we see some climate, that is!

I added another colour to the Voodoo missiles once I hadn't the automotive motivation any longer. What is it about all missiles having multicolour schemes there days? When I started off in this hobby, a missile was white, period. And that was another kind of pain due to the nevercovering white paint..
Anyway - only radomes left now, and that I should be able to sort tomorrow. Then we'll just see about the ejectors. "Hydraulic trapezes", I read when searching for the Frazer-Nash system of the Tornado, and why not? Those smallish blobs on the mid-fuselage of an F.3 shouldn't be that hard to replicate?

I've also had a short think of the 50's GB, but as much of what I usually build can be related at least to the late 1950's, I have decided not to save anything but rather plod on where the current lust takes me. If I make the GB - fine. If not - I'll be none the sadder. As always, I build for pleasure, not display.

Well - tomorrow's Monday again. I hope for a good and reasonably energetic day. I think I'll chase the medics for some blood testing to see if there's something they can do to boost me a bit, but I suspect I'll just have to wait for the weather to improve. I seem more and more dependent on warmth and sun these days. A fact that makes is somewhat daft to live where we do. At least at this time of the year. But what can you do? Life is expensive as it is, and I can't see myself not being here in the summer..

You could always become an Australian! We have weather that rarely goes below single (+ve) digits & some awesome landscapes (possibly as many trees as Sweden, too, just a bit more spread out in places). ;D

.... and THOUSANDS of vicious animals that are just hanging around waiting to KILL you!  :o  :o  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

I'd love Oz for so many reasons, but as I'm in renewables and you seem to cling on to coal..
And Kit's pets, of course..  ;D  ;D

And yet I live in South Australia, one of the few places in the world that has had any significant periods of purely renewable electricity production powering the entire state.

Australians aren't anti-renewables (not even the Lib's) but we want to know that base-load electricity production is covered. At the moment, here & now, that is only possible with coal or gas fired power stations.

PS: You get used to the bities & stingies fairly quickly, & they're nowhere near as bad as Kit thinks they are. ;)

Ozzies are generally very friendly. At least the one's I've had the good fortune working with.
That base load discussion isn't quite that simple, actually. But it's a complicated discussion and something I'm not prepared to fall out with anyone over, so let's leave it with that at the moment. I'm happy to take it offline, if you're really interested.

And I agree with Kit on the pets..  ;D

Of course a lot of that Australian coal goes to make coke, which then goes in a blast furnace to make iron, which is then made into steel, and currently it's still the most economical way to make the vast majority of everyday steel that we use globally. The rest is made with electricity and I do wonder if the amount of that needed could be made via renewables unless you are the Swedish and Finnish industries of course  ;)

Went to Sweden a few times before I retired once their and our stainless industries merged. Good trips

Just the CO2 emissions from steel making is a big challenge, one that the strong Scandinavian renewables market actually is an important part in solving. And that solution can (and will, methinks) be copied elsewhere. Have a look at the  Hybrit homepage for more detailed info.

But again.  Power production is a much more complicated matter than most people are aware of, and there is no such thing as a cheap and easy solution. Rather, a mix of many things will be necessary to make the future work, in particular if we are to continue to interconnect our continent. Which in it self most likely is a very good idea, but only in a bigger perspective.

Again - a discussion perhaps better taken elsewhere.

So - modelling wise - what's going on? Well - I have finished the Voodoo missiles, and possibly, I've made some more than I need, it seems as I'm trying them on. But that's better than the other way around. I have a good drawer where I can put them.

And while I was painting those missiles, I took the opportunity to binge-paint some 50 (yes, fifty) Sidewinders. I had broken out the tin, hadn't I?
Stupid project, really, but.. it's done..

And tomorrow's chore will be a trip to the dentist. Yay..

50 ?  :o  I don't think I've painted that many in my entire modelling career  ;)  As for dentists ? It's the one thing I have a phobia and fear over, best of luck.

Well, this week hasn't really progressed in accordance to any plan at all. Rather it seems, life played a sneaky trick on my wellbeing. It started off for tea on Monday afternoon when I, having gotten my tea alright, suddenly experienced rather severe abdominal discomfort, soon to be reclassified into pain proper.
As any system where you have one particular GP to search for when in trouble is out over here, I've resorted to treating my oncologist like one, so after a call where we together decided that this was very unlikely anything cancer related, we decided to give it another day to either try till kill me or itself

Accordingly in the Tuesday afternoon I urged my better half to kindly drive me to the A&E we here she promptly dropped me off and went home, anticipating an overnighter, or at least so much so that she would be able to reach an hours sleep or two before having to collect me.
And I went in to the A&E, finding that they had about 70 patients to deal with and 30 manned treatment rooms they could utilise. Well - it looked to be a long night..

But by 00:30 I had a room on my own and planned treatment for ileus overnight. By morning, that treatment, involving a very uncomfortable hose down your nose, amongst other things, had lead my intestines to sorting themselves, allowing me home after having tested the stomach in the early afternoon. But still with a somewhat sore tummy.

Today, I've tested the tummy a bit but it seems stable despite the uproar at the hospitals. And that's a good thing as I really need to move that stranded Defender 110 tomorrow..

So - tired and sore today, but also safely at home. Feeling the need for LR progress I've greased the bearings and mounted the seals, now being fully prepared for a frontal attack tomorrow.

Having done what could be done at the Defender, I also missiled up the Voodoo. Only four missiles, on one hand, but four good ones on the other. So I think I'll let it stay where it is now. Also, originally, it only carried four, far worse, missiles.
Some minor painting and new decals and then varnish. Should be a quickie.  Famous last words, eh?

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

As long as you snuck that comment in when A Certain Person's back was turned, you're good... there again, mentioning his name wakes him up and makes him review the transcripts, so - hopefully we avoided that, too...  ;)
Glad things are betterer.

Is that you or the Landrover we are talking about ?   ;)

No seriously, glad it wasn't anything to nasty and your back at home ok   Your A&E Departments sound rather like ours, or at least one I visited back in November.
