It was on here, Chris mentions it frequently, in a good way of course.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yup and I can't remember where I first saw it, but it 's used in quite a few model magazine builds nowadays.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

any one else know where that was ??? :banghead:

ISTR there was another seemingly counter-intuitive one usually mentioned at the same time?

Red undercoat for green.  Or was it Green for Red?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

I just received an important part for this project.

Can't have a Yellow Submarine without the band! This will take some repainting and converting a fourth band member to a left handed guitar player. No prob!

All the parts are here and the decals printed so there is no excuse to not get on with this one. I finally mixed up the first color to go on. Sprayed it on carefully with the airbrush and it looks good so far. Just good old Testors in the square bottles and thinned with lacquer thinner. It went on well and looks good so far.
Might be a little too dark but the yellow will brighten it up.

I used Frog tape for the masking and it worked great! No bleeding under and easy to use. It pulled off easily too. Looks like this is my new go to masking tape.

Oh I like that!

I have fantasies about doing the opposite, i.e. taking the actual Yellow Submarine kit and giving it a "grimly realistic" makeover. Given the ridiculous collectors' prices they go for though, that's never likely to happen. My guess is that many of them are sitting unbuilt in the collections of completist Beatles fans rather than modeller's stashes.

If you had gone for the Seaview look, you could have left the Victor's windows clear and replaced the pointy nose with a scaleorama's car headlamp.

I saw the pink-under-yellow tip on Twitter and promoted it on here, but I dare say I wasn't the first.

Another oddball undercoat is to pre-shade flesh tones with a thin green wash over white undercoat, then apply thinned flesh tones over it. Real flesh is translucent and the contrasty green gives the illusion of structure under the surface. I picked that one up from fantasy artist Patrick Woodroffe (RIP) and he got it from restorers working on paintings by the Old Masters.

looking magnificent so far
its not the "real" thing  but youve got the shape and colours very right so far,  you can almost see it as a second version

Spotify playlist on my phone will have to do for now. But there is room for it inside the base.
