Gave in after reading Narces2's blog about him getting the Airfix Meteor PR.9's from the New Airfix Membership so decided to get the membership myself. Possible entry for the 1950 GB in that box I suppose. Some research is needed and I have two plans already for that GB and the last time I tried that many I didn't and still haven't completed any of them

Received my Airfix Membership pack today and am a little dissapointed that there is only One kit but I suppose at the price etc.

Had a little think and a raid of the weapons I have in a coouple of kits resulting in a rearranging of the load out for one of the Airfix F-4M's I have. Haveing seen the picture of OGL's F-4M equipped with Red Tops and Sparrows I remembered that I had some Radar Red Tops which would go nicely in place of the Sparrows although the slots for the body fins would have to be moved and enlarged to accommodate the new missile.

I'm getting old. I was just looking around the model room and saw my Hasegawa F-15EX which reminded me that I was asked about the parts that make it the EX rather than an E. Visual stimulus can work wonders to tired and old brains. I have also just found out that it was Pellson who asked me about them. Maybe in a week or two when I am less busy.

Been looking through various books for paint schemes for my Airfix PR.9 and I am thinking of doing it as a 79 squadron machine but not the normal red arrow on a white background. There is a colour side view of the aircraft on the inside of the back cover of the Warpaint book where there is a single red arrow where the squadron marking bar would be, and that is it! Just the red arrow on top of the camouflage and nothing else excepth for the roundel. It's different enough for my taste and should be a challenge to paint.
My thoughts of doing a Meteor PR.9 belonging to either Sweden or Norway could still happen as I have the Aeroclub conversion for both the PR.9 and FR.10 as well as the Matchbox kit to go with them. This allows me to do something that I prefer to do which is when I have an older kit of an aircraft it gets used for the whiffs first before the newer kit does. So does anyone know what the high altitude reconnaissance camouflage colours are for a Swedish aircraft are or should I just copy the scheme used with their PR.19 Spitfire's?

As a matter of fact, there hasn't been a particular reconnaissance scheme if the RSwAF since the all blue Spitfire PR.19's. The Spits were replaced by SAAB S29C Tunnans and later S35E Drakens. Both these wore the standard blue grey and dark green over light grey scheme so well known from the fighter J35F/J Drakens. Then again, neither of the SAAB's were specialised high altitude recon birds, they rather did that as well as low level tactical reconnaissance where their camouflage would have fitter better. So maybe a Meteor PR.9 would have had the Draken camo while a PR.10 would have been all over light blue?

OK, so I could do a PR.10 as a Spitfire replacement in the same colours as the Spitfire

Yessir! We used the Spits into the early 1950's, so lacing a blue Meteor PR.10 at 1952-ish would work a charm.

But do use the unit markings from the Spit. I would expect only the 11th wing (F11) at Nykoping to have used it.

That said, theoretically, possibly, you would get away with placing your Meatbox at Lulea (F21 wing) as they got a Sqn of S32C Tunnans, but in reality, they only flew tax recon missions, i.e low level, so then you would probably have used the FR.9.

Great, then that is what I will do with the PR.10.

Tax recon is something new to me but I suspect that you meant Tactical recon rather than reconnaissance of people not haveing paid their taxes
