Moving my previous blog posts here.

Looks like I'll have to rework the seats, they're not exactly accurate. Excellent thread over on Britmodeler by Carlos Guate, he really did his up a treat. Not sure if I can manage that level of engine detail, but the seats should be easy. The hole for the control column seems off, should be between the pilot's knees, so a wee drill should do the trick. No collective, so that will be scratched. I found some pictures of a civilian Scout that has controls on both sides, but if other photos are correct the military ones only had them on the starboard side.

Uh, maybe accuracy is not mandatory in a whif world... ;)

Someone did a white metal update set for the Scout that included a lovely engine casting.

I used it when I built a Wasp out of a Scout decades ago, but I'm not 100% sure who dod the update set, maybe C Scale? Possibly ED Models?

Might be a bit heavy for that thin little landing skid arrangement. I'll try to fettle mine up with piping sand such.

The conversion came with white metal skids. But you're right to be worried, my 'standard' Scout had to have uprated skids as any nose weight at all collapsed the original skids, and without it they tail sit. :(

In that case, I have an idea. Something that I was going to do anyway, but now it becomes more important.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Yes, the Royal National Lifeboat Institute will be gifted a Westland Scout, resplendant in those colours!
Inflatable floats will be added, like used on the Bell 47. It will keep the military arrangement of the pilot
on the starboard side, with the port side left clear for a rescuer and some equipment; fire extinguisher,
searchlight, first aid kit, etc.

As stated in my blog post, YOU HAVE MY ENDURING ADMIRATION!
