I think Pellson may well have given HMRC (His Majesties Revenue & Customs) an idea. I can just see them scanning all those photos for signs of any illegal/untaxed activity

HMRC are the one organisation in the UK that I was warned never to mess with. It's always "yes sir, no sir"   ;)

Well the PR.10 idea is on hold untill I find my Aeroclub conversion sets that I have for the Meteor. I will probably do it at some time as I like doing Swedish reconnaissance assets haveing previously done a Swift FR.5 for a one week group build a few years ago.

Now there's an idea!  What would HMRC fly?  And how if at all would their aircraft be marked? Will we see a fleet of Edgeley Opticas, BN Defenders and helicopters(various)?  Did they also acquire Shackletons, and later Nimrods to investigate offshore accounts?   The possibilities are quite intriguing!

That's what the Greeks do. In 2010 they saw aerial photos of Athens and realised that hundreds of homes had backyard swimming pools that hadn't been declared to the tax man. Of the 16,974 swimming pools in Athens, only 324 had been declared.

I remember an episode of Grand Designs where in southern Italy there was this artists retreat being built. They suddenly had to make a building appear because there was going to be a check of the area by aircraft for planing regulations, pay a fine for an un regulated building that existed which was less than haveing to go through all the hoops in putting in a new planing application, cheaper too.

So I am on holiday for a few days, it's an attempt to get the bathroom finished  :banghead:

Haveing checked that I had the funds, I had cancelled my hotel for Telford, not much point if I can't afford to get there or do anything when there so the funds have gone towards other things such as the car haveing to go in for a service due to a Change Oil warning comming on  :-\

So on the way home yesterday I bought a new door to fit onto the top edge of the bath when using the shower. Today I had to spend more money as the foldable work bench I had broke down on me so a replacement was needed. The instructions for assembly were on a par with some of the worse model building instructions with lack of detail shown between different parts and only vauge directions of what went where! Nothing for colapsing the table!  :banghead:  It's together though and working so that has slowed down my progress.

Flooring is also ordered and a day booked off work for it's delivery, I'm betting I will get told a three hour delivery window for after I would be home from work anyway on that Friday

Back to the local DIY store tomorrow to buy a 68mm diameter hole cutter tomorrow do naturally make a hole  ;D  This is for a shelf I have started that will hold a beaker which I use to put my toothbrush into. I am thinking of using some brass rod to form a barrier above the edge of the rest of the shelf to stop items like toothpaste tubes from falling off the shelf although I am not 100% sure of how exactly to pull it off  :-\

I will also have to go see the houseing association I rent from tomorrow, apparently they have been dropping of reflective material to put behind oout radiators to reflect the heat back into the rooms rather than into the walls, only I haven't got any. I suppose a quick phone call tomorrow morning would be better than going the mile along the road to where they are based.

Nothing done modelling wise other than to order a conversion set for a 1950's Group Build from a shop in Canada! But when you want something that's out of prosuction, you get it from where you can!

The way work is going I should have plenty of dosh next year, that's if the order book keeps filling up at the rate it has so far this year. No help that one of the guys is off as he was not happy getting a warning for his time keeping. However we are manageing with me doing a lot of the work he did and my supervisor doing some of the rest. The production rate has slowed due to this but it's still going which is the main thing.

Now the next thing for me is to go get that hole cutter

It's up and then it's downs and then ups again. Life, they say. Annoying, I say!

Keep the spirit up and the modelling going!

In my case back and forth to the DIY store. I bought the hole cutter this morning and had to go back this afternoon to get screws to fix the soapdish'd dummy tile to the wall. Probably need the same screws for the shelf that the hole cutter is for.
The hole cutter I bought is an instering item. It has a half dozen bands of blades of different diameters and one flatdisc that they slot into. there are two hooks cut into the blund edge that latch into ridges on the disc and it works a bit like opening a jar lid, close in one direction, open in the other so its easy to remove the ones you don't need and as easy to replace the unused blades when you have finished.

Sounds like the hole cutter I use for installing lock sets into doors. Very useful! Keep it in your toolbox, you'll use it again.

I don't intentionally buy tools that I only use once. Had to take another trip to the DIY store as the screws I bought earlier were either side of what the instructions for the heavy duty plasterboard hollow wall fixings specify  :banghead:  4.5mm diameter rather than the 4 and 5mm ones I bought earlier though they will not go to waste.

I forsee another trip for tools tomorrow, this time paint brushes as the one 1" brush I have is rather old and not exactly in the best condition, but I have given two items their first undercoat. One item is a dummy tile to hold the soap dish along the side of the bath while the other item is an edge against tiles at the tap end of the bath and to mount the new shower door onto. The dubby tile will have to get several coats of both primer and gloss as the chamfered surfaces are a bit rough and will require sanding smooth and painted again, PSR on a one to one scale

I did manage to get a few tiles fitted to the wall though. I still need to find a method for cutting the tiles, or cracking them into two parts better for the smallest parts, only 1cm or so wide, as the required part keeps breaking in the middle  :banghead:

Lidl were selling hand held tile cutters this week. Like large scissors.
Probably all gone now or not sold in your area but worth a look.

I have one like a pen with a special tip. Use it freehand or with a metal ruler. Score the shiny side a few time and tap it gently with a hammer.

I might have a spare Aeroclub Meteor spine that is unlikely to be used. Yours if you want it, along with a resin FR nose and some dead Airfix F3 bits.

I'm more inspired by this photo and thinking about a similarly armed NF14 but with a pointier nose.
