3 yr old ...ya know there's others in here with builds talking that long and some with more
I can't think of any build of mine that's gone on for that long ..alot of my old builds get built and or modified but not painted as most times I can't decide what colour to paint it cause I don't know where the model is going to end up or who owns it.
My planes and cars get done but the tanks..same o some o
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

No they are not, indeed I was surprised to spot some at the London Model Show back in December on the Mr Models stand, so I snapped them up. As far as I'm aware they have been out of production for years. But then Mr Models had lots of out of production Humbrol in his racks

Yep, it's too long and i've been a master procrastinator in the past couple of years with 3 finished builds, the PoAF KAI T-50 in 2021 and the Monogram Blue Thunder and Moroccan RF-5E in 2022... Despicable, i know... Job situation was shaky and my mojo just wasn't the best, my mind just wasn't there. Hopefully, the farm manager job has changed that. I have been much more relaxed in the past 7/8 months and that has helped to get the mojo back... that's why there's been some progress on the stalled builds.

That's what i thought, i've read a lot of comments of people saying all kinds of good things but as they're OOP, there's not much i can do about it. I'll just keep mixing it up till i can try some of the other brands that have the HG color like Hataka.

So, the weekend's almost here and i'm hoping to get the nose cone fixed and resprayed to be able to move on.
The Viper Have Glass scheme is a pretty simple one so after the nose is fixed , it's only small detail painting and a good coat of Tamiya X-22 to seal it all up.
Markings are all in stock so that will not be a problem and if all goes well, i might even be able to get this finished before the end of the month...  ;D

I kinda live by a moto I've used for yrs ..started using it when my military service got alot more serious so to speck ...free your mind and your arse will follow...mate it works ..the mojo problem is an annoyance which hits us all at some point ..im no different there...glad your back at it mate and I know your glad too.
It sucks when you enjoy something and ya just look at it and moments after you do your mojo just goes south and your back where you started...not joy for what you enjoy.

Talking Humbrol paints ..a while back I scored a heap of Humbrols Acrylic rail colours paints.. there all pointed at railway stuff but damn there good paints..they will paint and stick to gloss varnish..Ammo paint won't do that and I've got a few of those..now can I find the Humbrol rail paint here in quantity??? Nope..just tribs and trabs here and there and those are the colours ya just don't use much.
I want more of the Dirty Black which is a great shade of black and it covers very well..fact they all do.
As for the other Humbrol paints..still pretty easy to get here ..well their enamels are anyway.

I wasn't aware they'd done those railway colours as acrylics, interesting.

I've also got, and still use, a heap of the Humbrol Military colours that they sold in specific sets. Date back to my wargaming days, but some of the Ancient's colours in particular are still extremely useful.

Chris those Humbrol paint sets ya mentioned ive never seen em ..anywhere so yeah that's a surprise to know they existed.

As for Humbrols enamel paints ..yeah I've still got paints I brought 20yrs ago and they still work ..some did dry up but those were nearly empty anyway but I still have this can of gloss yellow..it's still perfect paint inside..the outside of the can ..not so much .

Well, got the nose sanded smooth and ready for a new coat of XF-19 which, i hope will be applied tomorrow...

So, i actually think i got very close to the real Have glass V color with this mix and although the photo isn't great, i think it's enough to get close to what it looks like in person... I guess it's either close or, i really need glasses... even more than i already know i do... ;D

BTW, the Hunter's chilling in the back, masked again and sprayed some dark grey on it, just have to do the green and it's back to where i was before the previous mess up with the gun ports... :banghead:

Going back 40 years or so I would have thought, so I'm not surprised you've never seen them  ;)

If I remember when I get home I'll dig out some details just for interest  ;D

Even more I think. They first came out in the late 60s, but didn't last long as sets because everyone, users and sellers, wanted individual tinlets.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Ahhh that explains alot cause I myself didn't come out till the late 60s and when I started to build at age 8 they would have been around still possibly but not here in NZ I'll bet .
Model shops would have been very few and far between in 1976 here.
Even tho thr carnage my body has been thru is serious I still remember my very first 2 models mum brought me..both Airfix..a MK 1 Spitfire and a MK 1 Lancaster  ;D
and I still remember building em with wood glue
Man how times have changed since then.

Completely different here in London. Loads of model shops in the 70's, now ?  :-\

Even now their still few and far ..I could count every model shop in Auckland on one hand ..there's more online model shops here than shops ..we're to little country which is addicted to sport and anyone who isn't addicted is seen as strange and almost alien..they can't seem to get their heads around it ..it's quite funny really and quite sad ..well for them..I don't care either way.

This afternoon was productive and i managed to mask the intake lip and spray some XF-19 on it and on the nose. Next is to paint the engine's nozzle and smaller details...
