As there isn't an inspiration thread for this GB I'll put this here.
The above discussion on a finned Land Rover reminded me.

Many years ago back in the dim mists of antiquity a fellow model car builder and collector of Minis asked me if I wanted to build him one for his collection.  He would supply the kit and I would have free range.  Of course I said yes.
The result was the Mini Couper.  Which I posted off to its new home retaining only some slightly iffy pictures and the memory of seemingly endless PSR  sessions in very tight corners.

It's based on the 1/24 Tamiya '66 Mini Cooper and retains the full engine.  And it's lowered.  Which believe me is not easy with this kit.  The boot comprises of pieces of Revell '41 Willys roof.  The hubcaps are resin FC Holden parts.  The interior is built from AMT Trophy series custom parts, as is the grille and the headlights.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

And what did the Mini's new owner think of the result?

I remember that Mini Couper Fred. A masterpiece if ever I saw one.

He was pleased.  It took me three years to finish

I have one of the fairly recent Airfix Mini's to convert. It had been my ex's model but part of it didn't go right so I got her another kit and I have an idea to convert her previous attempt which will remove the problems she had but create many more for me  :-\

A question regarding work on a model before the GB officially starts: would it be O.K. to strip paint from work elements thorugh a brake fluid or soda bath before any real construction begins, because this might take a while?  :o

I've been digging through the Scott Lowther 'USAF Supersonic Bomber Projects' in the hope of finding some inspiration for this GB. Reluctantly I've come to the conclusion that building most of them would require me to move into an aircraft hanger as they're HUGE!

I did think of doing an FB-111H as it's fascinated me for some years, but the GB time frame is too early for it.

Back to delving through The Loft I think, I know that Mach 2 X-13 Vertijet is in there somewhere............  ;D

You could always go down the route of the American Mach 3 Programme,  there's plenty of large aircraft proposals to choose from which fits the GB time line before the North American XB-70 Valkryie was selected. 1/144 scale and donor Concorde kits.

PR19_Kit

They're in the Scott Lowther book, and they're all MASSIVE, but I'm not sure I want to military stuff in 1/144 really.

I think that I have too many ideas on this GB, stick with one and see if I have enough time for the others spread over the year.

Thanks to one of the lads here ..I forget who ..but they mentioned armour and then cars AND then my mind went into overdrive with ideas..im thinking of the same thing Mac..one at a time cause I could very easily add 2 more to this GB without thinking at all.
Still loving that 4x4 57 Chev  ;D
And I have an idea for a Centurion assault breacher tank with a big arse gun..failed 50s prototype.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .
