Yes, it's almost identical, but with a cross brace added underneath as it's a convertible. IIRC it's the same cross brace that they fitted to the Herald and Vitesse convertibles.

Having issues with overexposure to sunshine, I much prefer the GT6. Unfortunately, where we live, I'll never be able to get one home. It'll run aground like a freighter on a shoal. There's a practical reason for the Defender, remember?

Generally unproductive days, but then the weather is rather awful and I have found that weather affect me more these days than it used to. Also, trying to move that bathroom renovation forward is taking a fair amount of energy I really could have spent better.

Having retrieved our eldest, who's been away in the hills skiing for a few days, we're tomorrow relocating to the cottage for some proper R&R. While I'll bring a few books, I won't bring anything model related. When the entire family is there, there's usually not space enough to do anything useful, and also, I'm somewhat out of mojo, as so often just after having completed something.

And this time of the year is normally a downer anyway. I'm fed up with winter, and there's still at least 2 1/2 months to decent weather. And the dog still needs his walks.. :P

Sod it - tomorrow I'll be softing away in front of the fireplace with a favourite book and a proper kettle and we'll be away from at least most problems in the world. I'll rest in that.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

That, good sir, sounds like an excellent plan!

A grossly under-rated car, the GT6, especially the later marks with the semi-Kamm tail and sorted rear suspension. That 6-cylinder engine makes a wonderful sound as well.

Spitfires, Heralds, GT6s, and Vitesses are all completely unsuitable for use anywhere salt is put on the roads.  They rust quickly enough without help from sodium chloride.  I think that the design staff were specifically asked to design something that would biodegrade decades before it was an environmental requirement.
Although I suppose a good modern restoration would include a thorough rustproofing.

Spit Mk IV with a GT6 engine and wire wheels would be my choice.

Excellent plan! I wish I could do the same this weekend but fitting a handrail on the garden steps and fitting a new toilet seat with non-standard fittings is more pressing.

Triumph's body builders didn't believe in Rotodipping chassis and bodies, and wouldn't pay Pressed Steel the licence fees to use the eletrophoresis system either. :(

Their loss.

Agree wholeheartedly!!  Pellson has exactly the right idea.

I've just fitted a new seat to the throne in our bathroom.  Despite being a non-standard fitting it went on perfectly.  BUT getting the old seat off beforehand was a laugh a minute! Some silly plumber (or more likely plumber's apprentice) with vast strength and no intellect had managed to miss out parts of the  seat fitting   and  the whole thing was rusted solid , having been tightened far too much.   It's amazing what a hacksaw, unparliamentary language and WD40 can achieve.

Best of luck with the handrail on the steps, I'm leaving my garden engineering task of  fitting a rose arch against the end wall of the building until after we've been to see my grand daughter at the weekend.

2 day work to change the clutch on this . The rust was mostly faster I think .

Alfasud?
I think I saw one once but by the time I crossed the road for a decent look there was nothing left but a pile of iron oxide.
