I have just received the second locomotive I needed for this build, I hope I can resist starting to cut till march 1.

The first one had been only opened up to check the feasibility of the job.
And it's something I cannot start at midnight of february 28, as the first tool I will need is this, and I live in a condominium.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Oh, nice, I can guess where this might lead!

As I realised we are in march, I can start with my dastardly job.
As you can see, the locos were still in their previous state.

After an appropriate amount of swearing and WITHOUT any help from the Roco notices, that don't envision the possibility of someone wanting/needing to dismantle completely their product,  :banghead:  I succeded in reducing one loco to its components.
With a singular display of cruelty, in its early days Roco had the lower plate, that keeps in place the running gear, fixed with snaps hidden behind the wheels themselves....3 x  :banghead:

Tomorrow the first heavy machining (butchering) of the metal structure/weight.
I'll wait opening the second one till I verified the job is possible, the second one is digitalised, so more valuable.

MACHINING it?  :o

That must be a first in a Forum GB!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Well, to cut away the undesired part of the metal,I had to put it in a bench vise and use an angle grinder...
The plastic body was a very lighter job, of course.

As an aside, but still in a railway theme, this is a paint/decal job only  (the rear wagon is the real life model) but it's something only an italian can understand.  ;)

Also the second body and frame have been cut.

Even a single long body would be nice, but I think there would be problems in curves:

I had to mill the frames to remove some metal before drilling and tapping for the connecting bar screws.

Several of my builds from the past 5 years have parts that were done on the lathe and mill, none entered in GBs though.

Does the letter something to do with Italian pasta ?

It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep .
Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

You have a milling machine.  I'm officially jealous.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Well, doing mostly trains, a lathe and a milling machine are useful, from time to time...

Oh I bet mate....I had a micro lathe which was given to me and I loved it ..then it died and parts didn't exist here..or anywhere for that matter.
I'd love another one..custom made gun barrels just for a start  ;D

I had to stop my build, as I needed some spare parts for these and other locomotives. The firm (Roco) USUALLY has a very good spares service, also for 30 years old models.
It took 2 weeks before the  packet was sent, then I had to fight repeated attempts by the GLS courier NOT to deliver it.
"We attempted delivery but there was no address" in an email where the address was written in full. Then wrote that the street didn't exist...
At last today I managed to get my packet, opened it.....and it contained 3 wagons instead of my  parts!  :o  :banghead:
Possibly worth more, but of no interest for me.
I am afraid this build is encountering unusual difficulties.
Already written to Roco, but I wonder when my parts will arrive, and I am leaving next monday or tuesday for my french base, where I will stay all april, so not much time to complete the build.  :banghead:You cannot view this attachment. You cannot view this attachment.
