It'll never Work/What were they smoking GB - Stupid and/or ugly and/or weird.  the stupider the idea the better.  Extra points for ridiculousness or building anything from Blackburn or Reliant;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
...
That is a totally mad idea

......................and therefore exactly the sort of thing Whiffery thrives upon!

I actually suggested something similiar for a few years: The Really Bad Ideas GB. Nuclear-bomber airships, low-winged Harrier variant, close-air-support gliders, that sort of thing...

For example 'what were they drinking at the 1944 Oktoberfest to come up with Luft '46 designs'?

I like this!!
Bad idea..... A-10 or SU-25 carrying nukes.....

Hey if a Westland Wasp can do it an A-10 needs to Man Up and deal with it.  Wear white and close your eyes.  It'll be fine.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

In light of today's announcement that 2023 will be the last year of the Reno Air Races, I'd like to propose a Racer GB.  Not limited to Air Races, but also auto and boats, cycles, camels, whatever.

You could even use the same acronym:

MATCH: Manned Anti-submarine Torpedo Carrying Hawg

You could actually envisage that in the 1950s during the heyday of "hunter-killer" ASW ops: a piston-engined "hunter" helo (that can barely lift it's dipping sonar) finds the contact, but the equivalent "killer" helo can't carry a 1950s nuke, so they call up a Skyraider to do the deed. The Spad might have special comms/autopilot gear that lets the carrier remote-steer it onto the solution generated in the CIC, a bit like the Ikara missile a decade later.

Somebody might even improve on Han Solo's record on the Kessel Run.

An X-wing covered in sponsor decals.............. driven by Speed Racer, a TIE fighter driven by Racer X.
Wait, I'm mixing universes again. Bad things can happen.
We would have to call for the Doctor to straighten it all out.
It's late
I've taken my pills
I'm going to bed now
This will all be a nice surprise in the morning

In a real world example of that, ULA have just announced that they might be launching their first Vulcan rocket on May The Fourth... There's going to be an awful lot of "told you so" and "tempting fate" if that goes mysteriously wrong ;D   ;)

At Oshkosh I saw a home built with a Harley engine. I asked if it shook the whole the plane apart and he said a little! I'll pass on that!

Gondor

Was the list of prohibited topics in the first post complete?

Is there a list of suggestions that almost made it for this year but didn't?

I propose a 1960's Group Build or a 1970's Group Build. I'm thinking one this year and the other for next year.

Decennial GBs might be an interesting annual concept.
