Can you engineer the turrets to be removable, so you can fit them and then remove them for painting?

Not sure, mate. It's certainly one of the options I'm going to be looking at.

Not much movement tonight. Had a bit of a struggle with the cockpit canopy (this is in 4 parts) which I had to pull apart & redo (the side windows didn't seat right & the dried glue had to be removed to fix that up) & I discovered that the taller late astrodome piece is unusable, looks like it was still too soft when they released the clear sprue from the mould & it stretched & cracked (I'll put a photo up at a later date), so I'll just have to use the shorter early astrodome. However, I did get the guns for the rear turret assembled, so that's a plus, & means I know how to do it for the nose turret guns.

Once I get the canopy on I might take a few teaser photo's.

So this is a tease for a prospective tease then ?   ;)

Yep! ;D

Especially as I've been a bit distracted by other things tonight & I haven't taken the photo's, & it's coming up to 0245hrs, which means it's bedtime!

Tomorrow! I promise!

I promised, right!? ;)

The prop's are the Tempest prop's fitted with modified Lancaster bosses.

The guns at the back are 20mm Hispano Mk.II cannon from the Tempest kits, modified to fit into the Lanc turrets, with brass barrel ends for a 1/72 Hurricane IIc/IV, which used the same guns (I still have to make 2 more).

Cheers!

Love it  mate...it's the 4 bladed props which make look so much better and of course 20mm cannon ..yummy  ;D  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Thank you, gents!

Other two guns done, now. Next is painting them & trying to get the turrets built &, at least, partially painted (black).

That might get me warmed up for the canopy masking & black coat.

Then I need to think about doing the camo, which will be standard Lancaster dark green, dark earth & matt black (well, slightly greyish black).

That's looking amazing already, like Phil says, the 4 bladers make all the difference, never mine it has only two engines.

Why don't Master make those 20 mm cannon though? They're a perfect upgrade for a number of turrets for various types, for those of us without lathes anyway.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

When I opened this thread this morning the first thing I saw was the front end of the aircraft and I imediatly thought it was a I.Ae. 24 Calquin or a Sabre engined Mosquito.... I have the bit's and the idea is mine

Looks great   Looking forward to this being finished

OK.  Sabre Mosquito is yours.  But Sabre Hornet?

A little bit more progress has happened this evening but, as I have Day 1 of seven Day Shifts (0700-1500) coming up tomorrow, it's (past) time for bed!
