- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I have. I get this:
Your IP address is shown only to you and moderators. Remember that this information is not identifying, and that most IPs change periodically.
You cannot see other members' IP addresses, and they cannot see yours.

But what is the point of it?

I don't know, for sure, but I think it's to do with identifying spammers/scammers, who will try to hide their IP address &, therefore, not be "Logged" on the system.

For admins and moderators it shows the most recent ip address of the person. This is relevant when trying to ban people and determine fake accounts.  For privacy reasons this is not shown to ordinary users so the word logged is substituted in the field where I can see the address.

Sorry - had a bit of an outage after a PHP upgrade on the server. Took me a while to figure out the issue.

Are we secure?

I keep getting warnings (at work right now) that this site is not safe to use. The security certificate has expired and the https bit in our address is NOT SECURE.

Or something like that.

Tophe

I have the same warning, saying the Security Certificate of this site expired yesterfay. Going on (coming here) is strongly "not recommanded" (probably bandits stealing data)... :-\

Installed SMF2.1.3 update just now which includes this bug fix
QuoteImproved support for spaces in URLs...  Not per any RFC or spec, but SMF supported them in 2.0, so that support should have been carried forward to 2.1...
Fixed a bug where errors appeared in the SMF error log when crawlers attempted to access now-moved avatars.  During the 2.1 migration, avatars and attachments may be relocated; external crawlers referencing defunct links should not generate SMF errors.

Sounds like someone forgot to look at 2.0 when they were coding 2.1 (or just copy and paste the code from 2.01 into 2.1).

I noticed a strange thing about Searching:
The Search function now has the option to search within the Topic that you are viewing. That can be handy in long topics.
That search gives no results.
Searching in Entire forum or This board seems to be fine.

How to get this:
- Select "This topic" in the Search at the top right of the topic page.
- Enter a word that you can see on the page.

overscan

Can't replicate this. If I seach this topic for "point" for example, that works.
