How to reduce carbon emissions - Tip #1 - Walk to the Bar for drinks.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

1/24?  :o
That'll need a garage, not a display case..
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

You could start a small collection of Landspeed Record Breakers.

I'd love to have some LSR kits. Preferably with interior (frame, engines, drivetrain). On my long-term to do list, there's the Bloodhound SSC and the JCB Dieselmax.

With any record by Bloodhound remaining forever in the "What-If?" category.

From what I've read from some experienced LSR people, including a couple of aerodynamicists,
the designer of the machine made a number of serious errors, which the testing demonstrated.
Andy Green's drive reports highlight the most serious, even he tries to sound upbeat about the
whole thing. Most critical is that the machine lifts up and starts "skating" on its tires at around
250mph and they didn't expect that to happen until over 500 mph. The deep side profile and
the big fin already made the machine sensitive to side-winds, lifting up onto its tiptoes makes
it even more so, we're talking down into the 5 - 7 mph region. Which is about a third of what
it was supposed to be able to compensate for, Green says in his report that as the speed on
the run increased the car became increasingly difficult to control and less able to maintain a
straight line. Another thing you wouldn't have expected, based on all of the supposed airflow
work was that the accelerated air flowing under the belly and bouncing between the machine
and the ground was actually damaging parts of the machine.

The experienced folks and the aerodynamicists point to the basic layout as the major culprit,
stacking the turbofan above the space for the rocket engine drove a deeper body profile and
put the center of mass of the engine too far above the wheels. The big fin intended to counter
yaw makes it even worse, the large size increased the side area too much meaning that rather
than increasing lateral stability it works to decrease stability as the speed increases.

The stack should've been the other way round turbofan on the bottom fed by an S-duct with
the rocket engine mounted on top, it would still lead to a deep profile but the weight of the
turbofan would be down between the wheels.

Interestingly enough earlier layouts for the machine had the engines stacked opposite to how
they are in the existing vehicle.

I saw that and thought 'They did that anyway, I turned one in to a slot racer with two Milliperms glued into a cigar tube as a chassis!' and then I looked at the scale......

A 1/24 Lotus Cortina would be VERY good, oh yes.

Stranger things have happened... and (as I keep banging on about) if you can find someone who has done the work to make a printable file, you're away laughing.

Found one:

Not exactly expensive, though you'd have to make the interior and running gear - or find a suitable donor. In 1/24, that'd be pretty easy, methinks...
