Quote from: loupgarou on March 24, 2023, 10:49:53 AMLadies and gentlemen   ,  could you maybe write down your suggestions for NEXT year somewhere in your computers and avoid discussing them now?
As  you  all will have forgotten everything by then and we'll have to start again...

Absolutely sir  ;D

Although I must admit that if I see, or have any ideas which I think may have wide appeal then I keep them on a list on my laptop, just so they don't get missed next year.

Gents I'll probably close this vote down at the end of the week, so you have 5 days or so left.

Thank you for your sterling work, Chris.   I'm aware of  how much is involved in running these sort of polls..................the hidden bits that no one thinks about........and all I can say is that I'm glad it's you, not me, that has the job!

PR19_Kit

That's around the maximum number of GB entries we get anyway.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

i haven't voted, im not very likely to join in on any that run,  and dont feel its particularly fair, to add my thumb on the scales of decision making, when i wont be involved in the end.
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

to be honest,  ive never been disappointed by the results of other GBs,  it always amazes me what my peers think up / create

Almost certainly close the Poll down this afternoon (UK time) as numbers have been stable for a while. It'll take a couple of days to sort out the second round and one kind member has offered to proof read the second round before I post it, thanks Dave  . Any "cock-up" however will be and is my sole responsibility, hopefully there won't be one, touching all the wood available.

One small point though.

I'll be merging a couple subjects which are basically the same as suggested during the voting but I'm not completely sure about one area, and that is those suggestions that fall into the overall category of "Space".

Now we have 4  ? sub-categories that could be merged :-

1. Space, man :Anything related to escaping Earth.
2. A generic "Science Fiction" build GB
3. The Star Wars GB : Something from the Star Wars Universe past, present or future.
4. The Spaceplanes GB : Any aircraft that uses its own power to take-off, fly into Space at a height of 90,000ft or more and lands back to earth carrying passengers or freight.

Now I'm really not sure if they would constitute 1 or 2 categories ?

To my mind you can say that 1 & 4 are semi-serious whilst 2 & 3 are pure fiction ? So is that 2 categories ?

Note that they'll get into Round 2 regardless of whether it turns out to be 1 or 2 categories.

Opinions ?

Combining 1-&-4 and 2-&-3 seems reasonable to me.

The first for moderately sensible ideas for getting to, from & through space, & the second for any science fiction subject of whatever theme floats your starcruiser.

Makes sense.  But only if the GB is called the Space: The Final Frontier GB.   ;D
