Good to catch up on what's been happening and great to hear about the new job

Quote from: DogfighterZen on March 23, 2023, 09:39:19 AMand the boss or his husband calling or texting every 30 minutes... every hour on my days off...

That's why the mobile phone is the worst invention of the 20th Century in my opinion (others will have other points of view) because once you get to a position with any level of authority what so ever you are never away from work.  Either your bosses or your staff will phone, for different reasons, but it still eats into your time away from the workplace  :-\

Enjoy the weekend in Spain

I have a government phone, because part of my job responsibilities is emergency situations that may crop up while field staff is out of state (such as the 12/23 PNW snowmageddon and concurrent SWA meltdown).  Those are, thankfully, few and far between, and sometime around 4pm I log out of my email, since it could probably wait until Monday.

In some larger European countries, it's actually illegal for an employer (or his representative) to call an employee outside business hours.

I say the big gain here is the deleted commuting time. now, THAT's an upside! Time is a very finite resource!

That will take some reading, specially after extracting the English bits from it, but it looks very interesting after a quick scan.

And then you boss want's a word first day back

Seriously though, I've been retired 15 years now so I suppose work practices will have changed, even more so since Covid.

Quote from: Old Wombat on March 23, 2023, 08:56:49 PMI prefer the look of the hi-viz markings, personally, & they actually conform to the spirit of the Hague Conventions. ;D

Quote from: Mateusz Piątkowsk: The markings of military aircraft under the law of aerial warfare (Nov 2020)Nowadays, the determination of the character of the aircraft in contemporary air warfare
conditions is solely based on the radar signature. In light of such circumstances, the practical
role of the markings (as a method of long-range identification) is marginal.71
On the other hand, the state still observes the requirements arising from the HRAW
of 1923. In order to reconcile the conflict between the practical realities of the battlefield
and the legal requirements, many states decided to adopt a new type of insignia (generally
referred to as 'low visibility'). The markings are usually repainted in gray-scale (e.g. US)
or faded shades of colours (e.g. UK). Prima facie this practice is a violation of Article 13
of HRAW, which demands that the aircraft markings be 'visible'. On the other hand, as
observed by M Schmitt, no single state has protested against the employment of low-visibility
markings.72

Well, thanks for that, learned something new.
That does make me think about this issue a bit more. Although I do tend to like the less colorful schemes, the Have Glass V is rather dark and i think it does look good with a small percentage of other colors. No stress, i now have plenty of decals for both options and a few choices of colorful markings for the fin. I'll have enough time to decide which will be first.

What a great weekend...
Chris is right, although I don't answer every call, exactly because of what Pellson said, it's illegal to call workers about work related issues after their scheduled hours. I've told them once when it got to a ridiculous point one Sunday. Still, i'm the only one there who knows how to take care of a lot of stuff so, it's inevitable... But i could handle that, it's not the main reason I want another job, it the time and money spent on my car to go to work. That is really the best of it all, a job within walking distance that won't even make break a sweat to get there.
Really looking forward to this.

I can get to work in 20 minutes on my bicycle.  It's great working that close, as you'll find out.

Thanks for the support, gentlemen!
And yesterday I found out i will be having a few free days before I get called in to work on the new job and i'm also looking forward to that because I really want to finish the F-16W and the Hunter so i can get new builds going.

Yep, I've already dusted off the old BMX, greased brake cable and chain and pumped up the tires. I think it'll be fun, it's probably going to be very nostalgic at first as I used to ride my bike to work and everywhere else when i got out of school up till i was 24. I just have to remember that it won't be as easy to get up if I crash.  ;D

Definitely something to have in mind. It's amazing and rather disappointing how much worse off an old git as myself comes out of any interference with a hard object these days..  :-\

All i can say is that i know i'm not in the shape i was when i rode my bike everyday. The years of inactivity and the sum of the abuse taken throughout the years is starting to show so i know I'd better be more careful... But actually being so is another matter...   ;D
