So you're doing it in RN markings? I had thought that "Aegean defender"  would be in service with the greek navy.

You are correct sir, she'll be Greek Navy, either an ex Fleet Air Arm aircraft or sold to the Greeks as new. I should have been clearer that I'd simply assumed the cockpit would have been black at the time.

You are correct sir, she'll be Greek Navy, either an ex Fleet Air Arm aircraft or sold to the Greeks as new. I should have been clearer that I'd simply assumed the cockpit would have been black at the time. 

But I am sure that a mediterranean people (and admiral) would choose a gaudier colour for the cockpit...

Unless specified by the customer, they'd be black.

One way around the 'islands were colonies in the Fifties' problem would be to say that the RN commissioned a small production run of SRA.1s but had to lose them in a round of defence cuts, so they passed them on to 'Colonial Defence Forces' (FCO budget, not MoD) who then kept them after independence.

A jet powered float plane fighter is a cool idea and in wiffy world everything is possible.
Shame in the RW the idea is there but the problem list is quite long that's why wiffy world is my first choice now .

It actually worked pretty decently, the problem was that almost nobody had a requirement for it, and those who did also had aircraft carriers. Then commercial air travel became so vital to island economies that even quite small ones found it worth the acreage and expense to build a runway. To find a role for things like the SRA.1 and the Convair Sea Dart, you'd have to invent an area with the geography of the Aegean and the political tensions and defence budgets of South America.
