That they will!

Although masking is taking its time, it's better to get it right than rush it. ;)

I know what you mean about black being too black Guy. For something like the underside of a Lancaster I'd probably use Humbrol Coal Black or Xtracrylic RLM66 which I normally use for tyres.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Oh take as much time as you want matey ..masking can make or break a build and having seen your builds before of course I am seriously looking forward to it 😀
I'm still trying to decide what to do with my grand slam Lancaster I got in that amazing 5 plane score. 🤔

You could always paint it in the Tiger Force scheme & display it over an aerial photo (if you can find one) of Yamato (preferably in harbour).

After all, they dropped Tallboys on Tirpitz & Yamato was that much bigger & more heavily armoured. ;D

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Colour #2 is done! ;D

Just waiting for it to dry enough to remove the tape & see how much seepage there is.

Just so you can see that "stuff" is really happening, here's a couple of very current photo's;

They both look right, depending on the lighting.

A couple of minor things that need touching up but no bleeding under the tape. None! WIN! ;D

Two camo colours (& one other, still covered in tape) down, one to go ... but not tonight! ;)

Hope that helps with your visualisation, Phill!

Other than the wingtips the plan view looks like the Manchester

Thanks, gents! ;D

The fins & rudders are slightly different, too, but you can't see that from above; couldn't have it look too much like a Manchester, that would be cheating. ;)

When I've finished, I'll put up the dimensions for all 3 derivatives (Manchester, Lancaster & Mancaster) for comparison.

Just put the remnants of the fuselage & the wings of the 1/72 Airfix Typhoon IB together as a paint tester for Colour #3 &, I must say, it goes together very well.

Somewhat disappointingly I've discovered that the "Blue Black" that I was going to use to lighten the "Camo Black" seems to eat into the plastic through a primer coat, even through a primer coat & Camo Black coat to give an acid etched appearance. I don't understand why because all the other external colours, including the Camo Black, are SMS colours & don't do that. :-\

Even a 20% Blue Black/80% Camo Black mix eats straight through. 40% BB / 60% CB gives the tone I was looking for but, of course, eats the plastic. :banghead:

I'll see how Tamiya NATO Black goes over the SMS paints (acrylic over lacquer can be problematic) because it's the closest colour to what I want but, if that doesn't work, I'll have to use the SMS Camo Black & hope that a grey oil wash lightens it a bit.

Glad I was using a test piece & didn't put it straight onto the build!

From reading this mate it was a bloody good idea using a test piece. ..it sounds like that bad paint has a ton of thinner in it or acid 🤔
What ever it is it has bad bach written all over it ...best of luck with the Tamiya paint Guy .
