Mission to Venus.

Papers from a joint Soviet/PDRV committee for extra-planetary exploration were recently declassified and released for the edification of the people.
Dating from the mid fifties, amongst the proposals studied by the committee was a manned mission to Venus by the end of the decade .

Yes, yes, I know what I said.  But this will be a fairly simple exercise in scalorama, adding detail and a 1/72 pilot, and changing the feet (I don't like the kit ones).
I feel this should be achievable in the GB timescale even if I have to leave Stately zen Manor for longer than expected when they replace our floor.
Yeah, right... :-\

I think I got this kit at Expo a few years ago.  It appealed to me as the basis for something.  I liked the shapes.  I didn't know about the feet then of course.
It is, according to Google Translate a Dogmac.  I don't know what that is.  Dizz might.  It has something to do with Tokyo Channel 12 and is in the ever popular 1/610 scale.  Here is an alleged translation of the box top.

I like where this is going! I have a collection of short stories edited by Brian Aldiss and Harry Harrison titled "Farewell Fantastic Venus". All the stories were written before there was proof that Venus was hellish and very much not Earth-like.

Well, obviously! She is the Goddess of Love & Slap-&-Tickle (although that latter part is often glossed over), after all!

The goddess of both Rumpy and Pumpy.

Had a good hard look at what's in the box today.  Feet definitely need replacing.  I have some ideas in that direction.

I have started modifying the "head" to take a 1/72 human pilot.  A couple of holes drilled for the pilot to look out of (and to let light in) and i've painted the interior with chrome paint.

It's sounding good Fred .. .as for this Venus chick.. she might be the goddess of love and doing the nasty but as for her name sake..well she can keep that all to herself..hostile environment?? Yeah quite a understatement.  ;D

Well, the Dogg-Mack is one of the many (and HUGE! It's 1:610!!) mecha that populate the "Space Runaway Ideon" TV series from 1980. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Runaway_Ideon;D

BTW, this is an old boxing and quite valuable, I've seen these go for EUR 50,-.

Good deal, anyway!   After all, you need someone who will actually pay the called price. I also have one of the Ideon kits (a Zig-Mack) somewhere in The Stash™.

Progress:

A pilot has been installed.  He is dressed in a suitably '50s silver cosmonaut suit.
Body halves are closed.  There is a wacking great seam right across the middle.
And i've started on the legs.  Most time on these has been taken up fabricating the new feet from three Tamiya Morris Mini wheels.
I also drilled a small hole in my left thumb.

Well, at least you didn't lop a chunk of thumb off with a razor blade, and you appeased the modeling gods with what amounts to a blood sacrifice.
