LTV A-7 Corsair II.  RAN FAA 1976.

What if the Corsair II had been purchased by the Australian Navy?

The model

The rather fine 1/72 Hobby Boss kit.  This was built from the Portuguese A-7P boxing.
Transfers (intended for a RW A-4 Skyhawk) by CtA.  Part of a huge set with schemes for many RAN aircraft.  Few (if any) of which will be used on their intended types.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Neat!

The Hobby Boss Corsair kit is really good.

NARSES2

That's come out really well Fred
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I bit short on bomb load isn't it? You could have some slung under the tailplane.  ;)

And if you'd made the wings longer................

AWESOME build there!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

A very neat bomb truck!
Whatever.

Thanks folks.

I did contemplate putting TERs on the outer pylons but didn't have any that were as good as the Hobby Boss MERs...

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Old Wombat

Probably the only jet aircraft that could have induced me to move away from the ol' Grey Grumblies! ;D

Great build, Fred!
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

Love it Fred..ive always liked the Corsair..both versions..old and not so old...so it's a instant like here for sure 😀
This does look great 👍
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

zenrat

Thanks folks.

The set these transfers came from does include some for a RAN Tracker.  And I do have a 1/72 Hasegawa example in the stash so a RW example may be on the cards.

That could be straight out of John Baxter's Alternate RAN book. Superb

I've got the Italeri A-7E in 48th and one of Kits ideas is bouncing around in my head right now

Nice job.  It's a lovely kit isn't it? I built the two seater years back in Granby pink, some very fine details.  The only real trouble I had with it that wasn't self made was the horizontal tail had a thin joint and kept snapping off.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

zenrat

Thanks folks.

The horizontal tails each locate by a single small pin into a hole in the fuselage.  They are an interference fit so I have not glued them.  This means they can pivot.  If I had glued them I would have snapped at least one off by now.
