The Wooksta!

The Brick is more work, the rear to middle fuselage join is a bit meh, but overall it's a good build.

Cheers Lee, I may get it out of its box once this is done.

Quote from: NARSES2 on April 14, 2023, 05:44:49 AMThis is one of those kits that sucks you in. The fit is so good that you assemble a part, quite often hearing that satisfying "click" as it goes together exactly as intended, D

The new mould Airfix Skyhawk is similar - the fit is so good that you can assemble it without need for PSR, yetalmost seamless. Amazing craftmanship!

Thanks for that info Dizzy. I might seek one out as a "comfort" build. An Aeronvale machine perhaps ?

This kit can be lethal ! It's got some really sharp edges to surfaces and sharp pointy bits due to the quality of the tooling which can draw blood if your note careful.   Anyway I now have a complete fuselage and a complete wing assembly. I will need to do some psr (mainly PPP) but that's purely down to me and seeing things differently depending on whether I look at them from their right or left side  :-\  Going to ask the optician next week if there's anything they can actually do to help, especially as it costs me £300/£400 per pair of specs

I get 2 pairs of multi-focals (1 x clear, 1 x sunglasses) annually for about AU$250-AU$300 for both.

I'm pretty lucky at my eyes are buggered on the same level so no need for a multi focal pair of glasses..the price for mine is a grand total of $2.50 .

Yup a lot of people over here will be paying the same price. Of that £300/£400, frames were £80 last time and that's a big enough rip off. I'm actually limited in my choice of frames because most won't take my prescription, and don't the so and so's know it

My prescription is so specialized that unless I go top end then I will end up with "milk bottle" lenses, and they are thick enough already. That thickness causes distortion in its own right as well, I can almost look through it under certain circumstances  :-\  Sometimes for really close work I take them off . Always been very short sighted and that plus the stigmatism and increasing effects of cataracts and I'm well and truly up a gum tree without a paddle, to mix metaphors  ;D

Least the cataracts can be operated on with ease these days Chris.
The brother of a guy we have at the camp here had that op only 3 weeks ago and he's coming along very nicely from what Gregg told me .
Your prescription sounds weird mate .

It is believe me. At one time I had prescription goggles for swimming and they were even weirder.  ;D Some of the UK have seem my specs and can testify to how thick they are.

The brother on my best mate Karl used to wear glasses which looked like the lenses were stolen from a mountain top mounted telescope..thick as hell..now his glasses look like normal ones and their not that thick ..why can't yours get sorted like that?

Sympathise with you Chris regarding cost of specs - like you Madame Kitbasher's prescription really restricts the frame/lens matching options.  Costs quite a bit to replace her glasses.

Ref cataracts, I've had both of my lenses replaced due to having developed cataracts early-ish and having v poor eyesight since puberty (and a detaching retina in Nov 21!) and I've found the end result brilliant!  I couldn't wait to get my 2nd eye done once the optician had given me the all clear from the first.  Just wear reading glasses as reqd now  ;D !

I'm glad my eyesite is just knackered dew to age ..as it happens.
Strange thing is I know exactly when my eyes started playing silly buggers.
The day I turned 39..the night before I painted a German tank commander ..painted all his badges..epaulettes..collars and so on..then next morning I looked at the little dude and he was blurry..that was the start.
I've been wearing the $2 shop glasses every since 😀

I had to have my cataracts done last year, BIG difference and for the good. Down side was that I could see things close up without glasses before the operations, now I need reading glasses but it does mean I can drive again which is great as when I had to use public transport to get to/from work it was the worse year for such, covid causing shortage of train drivers and other staff and then strikes and reductions in service so my commute doubled easily on a daily basis.

I cant recommend cataract operations enough as I found the results fantastic.
