This is a spun-off thread from my B-54B build so I can enter the escorts as separate builds, the B-54B being likely yo be VERY late!

The Goblin was a proposal for an escort fighter for the B-36, to be carried inside the bomb-bay! Needless to say it's VERY small, and has folding wings etc. to get it to fit. I doubt I'll ,model it like that as you won't be able to see it inside the B-54B of course.

Here's the WELL over large kit box.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Is it possible to apply rule #1 to this?

Hehehe I should think so, the span is only 21'1"!

But quite how it'd fit in the bomb bay with longer wings I'm not sure, it'd need slots in the roof for the wingtips to poke through!  :o

Yes but, if you take it too far, you get this! :o

Fairey always did take things just a BIT too far when it came to folding wings!

Is there any truth in the rumour that the Gannet was originally intended to be an ornithopter?   It does look as though it is flapping its wings.

Just as long as it doesn't do that on takeoff! Leave that to Japanese anime!

Eric "Winkle" Brown contended the Baracuda was, "An Iron Mongers paradise" when it's wings were folded.  You can now perceive why he made that statement.

Weird this came up cause I watched a hour long video on YouTube about America's giant bombers ..it's focused alot on the B36 and the giants before that.
I'd showed alot of footage of the 36s parasite figthers and it showed the first launch of the Goblin and the first time it went to redock with the 36.
That didn't go that well at all..smashing the hook back into the cockpit canopy and knocking the pilot out for a mo ..the pilot still landed the Goblin..awesome stuff.

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
