#4815
Before I was driven indoors by the rain yesterday I had pulled out and started (glued together four pieces) an ICM 1/35 W.O.T. 8 army truck.
This is what I had planned to build for the Logistics GB as a mobile post office.  Until the mods decreed mail was not a logistic.
I returned to it today and continued building small subassemblies that attach to the chassis.  I got to stage five or six and then couldn't find the parts I needed.
Examination of the sprue diagrams in the instructions showed that the sprue the parts were supposed to be on was different to the picture.
Uh oh.
But the bag had been sealed when I started the kit.
Had they put one wrong sprue into the bag?
No.  Examination of the other sprues mould numbers and consultation of the interweb showed that they had put the wrong bag into the box.
I have a W.O.T.6 kit in a W.O.T.8 box with W.O.T.8 instructions.  Is this a problem?  No, not now i've downloaded a set of W.O.T.6 destructions from the ICM website.
When I put the WOT on my xmas list it had been a toss up between the 6 and the 8 and I chose the 8 simply because it was in stock at the time.  I just wanted a Brit Army Truck.  The 6 is bigger than the 8 and will take up slightly more shelf space.  But it can also carry more crates of Vodka    :drink:

I wonder if I should complain?  They might send me a complete W.O.T.8 for my troubles...

And in other news I have glued the clear parts into the Turbine Car.  Deadline for this one is Ballarat NNL on Sunday May 21st.

Worth a try. I certainly won't snitch on you

I've contacted them through the website.  We shall see what happens.

What's 'W.O.T' mean please?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Rheged

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you....."
It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

PR19_Kit

Oh right!

Thanks, I know what you mean now as I Google-viewed the WOT6 and that's the truck with the funny radiator grille that appears in many WWII films etc.

Yeah, sorry Kit.  What Rheged said.
1 1/2 ton 4x4 truck powered by a flathead V8.  WOT 8 is a shorter wheelbase than WOT 6.
If it was 1/24 I could hop it up with flathead tuning parts from the parts boxes.   ;)

I got a response from ICM telling me what sprues should have been in the kit and asking which ones I actually had.  I replied and so its back to them.

A 6-71 on top would improve its 'get-up-and-go' a bit.   ;D

Wouldn't help fuel economy or reliability but it'd get to the front quicker...

I've been working on the interior of the Do.17.  Now I know these things were close in the cockpit but It is not possible to fit the pilot and the bloke sitting on his right without one of them slimming down.
I've shaved down the right seaters arms and adjusted his legs.  The pilot needed his knees bending some more which meant slicing in from the back (ouch!).

Might be a quicker way of getting mine fixed than waiting on the NHS  ;)

I think one of the problems with pilot figures is that if they are done to true 1/72 scale then they won't fit most cockpits because of the thickness of the plastic etc, and if they are sized to fit (like the current Meteor) then people moan about them being undersized. Poor so and so's can't win  ;D

I don't use crew figures, but do keep them in my spares drawers. You're welcome to them if you want for future use ?

I am always after more crew.  I would gratefully give them a good home (for a short time before I start cutting them off at the knees)

PM in bound.

I have exchanged a series of numbers with ICM Support.  They will get back to me.

Glued the fuselage halves of the Do.17 today.  The section forward of the wings appears to not have much joint face area but the glazing should hold it together when I get to that stage.

Touching up chrome work and fiddly bits painting on the Turbine Car.

Work has reared its ugly head and there will be no modelling now until Friday.   :banghead:

Worked this morning.  Then rellies dropped of a nephew (a different one.  The one we used to have stay is now 18.  This new one is 12).  Then a friend dropped in and forced me to drink wine with her.  Then it was tea time.
However, in between all that I got to glue the rear seat into the Turbine car body.  This is an important part as it locates and secures the working boot (trunk) lid.

ICM support sent me an e-mail.  The missing sprues I need to build a WOT8, when combined with the sprues I already have, are on their way.  Not a complete set of sprues but i'll still have a complete chassis spare which will come in usefull (1/35 truck chassis will make a good basis for a 1/25 hot rod chassis) plus a lot of other bits.
