Yeah that's starting to get there for sure  ;D

Nothing to do with your build Kit...im wondering with 2 sidewinders mounted on it ..it's gonna look bloody cool ..what I'm wondering is how fast this little beast would move if you lit both missiles without launching them  😅
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

The original X-13's engine was a RR Avon as the Americans hadn't got a light enough engine that produced the same amount of thrust. I see no reason why the F98 wouldn't carry on using an Avon so the added grunt from the two 'winders would have the same effect as on an RAAF Avon Sabre I guess.

Exit rapidly stage left!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

;D  ;D  ;D ...hmmm Sparrows for speed ..OH!! Sparrow motors mounted above the main engine for the extra speed boost on launch 😀
Now she'll move baby yeah !

The F-98's got most of its decals on now, what it HASN'T got is its 'winders yet, which is a pain, but they may arrive by Friday when I'll be heading home again.

The launcher-trailer has some paint now, but needs more, and lots more greeblies added to it before it's suitable to display.

Maybe pics later today.

And at last, some pics of the almost finished aircraft.  ;D

You cannot view this attachment.

Neither of those views show the hook under the nose, which is effectively the aircraft's nose gear, but you'll see it OK when it's hanging from it on the launcher.

And it's till minus the 'winders of course, and the launcher-trailer is still a WiP, but that may get finished tomorrow.

I do wish Mach 2 would learn how to make plastic model kits.  :banghead:

They have an amazingly different range, some of which just don't exist anywhere else in any scale, but they have yet to learn the basics of moulding properly. They have massive sprue gates leading to very finely moulded parts, which means it's very difficult to cut the parts off without them breaking, the stresses go through the part, not the gate!

I had to make the V struts on the landing gear legs of the F-98 from fuse wire as both plastic struts broke at their mid-point, where the gates were, and the same thing happened with the access ladder for the guy who sits at the top of the launch table. I've had to bodge that with a bit of stretched sprue, but it's not brilliant.

It's coming together OK, most of the launcher-trailer is painted now (I HATE painting yellow!  ) And I just have to paint the monster multi-stage hydraulic jacks, and glue it up. .

The F-98's sorted at last!  ;D

At least one of my 50s GB entries is done anyway.

You cannot view this attachment.

You can just see its 'winders under the wing here.

And here they too, and the pylons as well.

The launcher-trailer from the back. Wait till you see the front....  ;D

You cannot view this attachment.

And here it is! That's the 95th FIS' unit badge and motto, I thought that was more relevant then a boring 'F-98', which would have been more like the original's big 'X-130' moniker.

The whole assemblage, with the F-98 hanging on the cable.

And from the other side, not  that you can see much of the F-98 from here.

And lastly, just in case you missed it the first time , that amazing unit badge again.

Come together well Kit.

I didn't realise the launcher was quite as big, or the F-98 quite so small
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
