On short notice, I'll add a 3rd build to the GB. I have found a Pegasus XFV VTOL prototype in The Stashâ„¢, and with some minor mods and improvements this will become the eventual armed production version, the (actually proposed) FV-2. Classic all Dark Sea Blue, probably operated by USN VX-8, a (fictional) dedicated evaluation unit for the new VTOL concept in the mid to late Fifties.

Oh yes, do, please note the credits on the box side...................  ;D  ;D  ;)  ;)

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

That's got me wondering what's on that box side now 🤔 👀

BTW, work on the XFV has started, even though the F-80E pics are still pending.  :-\

The Pegasus XFV is a very basic and simple affair, a mixed media kit with styrene (a bit brittle?) and white metal parts. Some flash for sure, and fit - e .g. for the cockpit tub - is non-existent. But there are no major problems. nothing that could not be mended through PSR. I was already able to close the fuselage halves (while watching the 1st ESC semi-final) and completed the contraprop, which was modified to be movable while retaining the static tip with the radome (through an internal construction with styrene tubes). Also have some ideas for further small mods.

WiP pics will follow later, after the F-80E has been truly finished.

Go Dizzy, bang out another one... great subject.

Hehehehe, it's the only kit in the world with my bye-line on it.  ;D

I helped Chris Gannon out with a fair amount of research on the XFV-1 when he was planning the kit.

Quote from: zenrat on May 10, 2023, 03:58:19 AMIt can't fit worse than the Valom kit.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, Pegasus kits are very basic and pretty crudely moulded, LOTS of flash to carve off etc. :(

I've got both kits, but never built either of them so far.  :banghead:

Can confirm this for the Pegasus XFV. The surfaces have engraved details and look quite good - but nothing really fits together, flash and uneven seams surfaces everywhere. The fuselage halves were already ...demanding, and I already omitted the tip tanks and will replace them. The wings seem to be O.K., but I am scared of the tail surfaces,: no lacator pins, dubious surfaces to attach them onto the tail, and all of the four small tail wheels as separate white metal pods for the fin tips.   Scary!
What's really nice is the white metal seat!

Here's a look at the cockpit tub and the attempt to mount it into the hull:

A very sensible idea, the RW setup looks so fragile. And with the model it REALLY is!  :o
