i am hoping for a good afternoon tomorrow at the Womborne club, and want to have a crack at stuff with the long weekend.  i just need to maintain concentration wile doing so, and not hare off down any side alleys.

ive managed to finish the Brits,   3 vehicle crew,  9 infantry  also managed to finish the pulp evil doctor that ive had for however long, the flock will dry overnight and get varnished tomorrow,

43 figures  3 models and 5 bits of scenery.

ive had a small tumbler of a whisky wine ( whisky flavour and 15%) that we got  years ago, as things are finished, as alcohol is the opponent of modelling,  loss of precision and knifes or fine paintbrushes  are not a good thing with me 
listening to the Miami Grand-Prix and relaxing now. 

another dozen infantry on the desk,  and ive bitten the bullet and started on the  Airfix / Trumpeter Challenger 2 with dozerblade,  roadwheels,  blech!  still its only a dozen, not like a Churchill,

Didn't say it wasn't. I was just showing off that I recognized the origin of the reference.  

Isn't it harvested rather than mined?

Dune reference; where the substance "Spice" is mined from certain sands (iirc - it's been over 3, maybe 4, decades since I read the book & I've only seen the Sting movie version).

Mined in the form of vacuumed up from the sands and filtered out,   but some of the vehicles were ill stared, and threats of being sent to certain ones as punishment were used...   and this was by the Harkonens, who wern`t the most health and safety people in the Landsrad.   I was " better " under the Atraiedies   but they were only in the Dukeal seat for months? ?   so didnt make a massive difference,

But im just glad folks get the references, i do occasionally wonder if im being to clever for my own good    

I can't find my copy of DUNE.......I have a paperback that has become a "loose leaf" edition.....but if memory serves, the spice mining vehicles were lifted off the planet surface by a "carrier wing" before a sandworm appeared .   Has anyone tried to build a spice miner or a carrier wing?  I seem to remember ornithopters in the  story too.

ive seem models of the miner and ornis from the Lynch movie, and im certain it was on here from a big model show, where, when  
i dont think ive seen a carryall but my memory is at best spotty, but a quick google images show some familiar stuff
