IIRC, the Frog kit dates from about 1970.

Yes, it's the FROG kit. Revell released it (in a white box) many years ago, too, and many of the late Matchbox boxings by Revell contain old, crappy non-Matchbox stuff. The Do 335 is a similar case.

Quote from: killnoizer on May 10, 2023, 01:10:15 PMGot a old Matchbox kit , seems a very old design, maybe a old FROG or something ?

Just some big glas pieces and wings ,  and decals .

Unimaginably many moons ago, when I was just a kid, there was a short lived comic magazine in Sweden, specialising on flyer comics such as "Battler Britton" and a few others. In one issue, there was a contest, such a Dornier kit the first prize. No, I didn't win. But I still remember wanting it.

Frog's Do335 is about the same age. Despite the lack of detail, it's actually accurate in shape. Nice blank canvass for your modelling skills.

I've got one in the stash.  Picked it up bagged for $cheap.  Vague thoughts about a race plane.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Scalemates does us a dis-service here in that is tries to list the family tree of ALL Do-17s kits on one well over-complex page.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Snagged a Hasegawa He 51 off eBay,  only to have postage cost more than the kit.  Another for my Spanish collection.

I did one a long time back* and didn't enjoy it, so let's see if nostalgia is what it's cracked up to be.

*Might still have it somewhere, so one to look out for next time I'm in the loft.

Quote from: Wardukw-NZ on May 10, 2023, 11:34:05 PMMate even tho I'm not really a fan of ultra modern jet figthers but when I saw the Tamiya F-35 I wanted one ..then I did some price hunting and bugger me sideways and call me Sally ...the Kittyhawk one is seriously ouch but the Tamiya one will give you a heart attack with a price over $170nz ..will one of those enter my stash ?? Probably not in this life time unless I put it on lay by ..which is my only real choice and even tho the Tamiya one it the most expensive I haven't heard great things about the Kittyhawk kit ..lots of fit issues.

Doggy mate get that saw ..it's freaking cheap and I've already used quite a few times today..it's bloody good bud and as for sprue cutters ..Tamiyas is the best I've ever had not cheap here at $60+ but man it's worth it..these are bloody brilliant for super clean cuts .
I'll bet tho out your way there's other brands just as good to choose from .

Yep, i've read about the fit issues of the KH kits but, i decided not to wait for a better kit of the F-35C cause i got that one under 40€ at the time. The Portuguese store i bought it from had the cheapest price i could find anywhere in EU, and the same happened with the Tamiya kit now, listed at 79,50€. The best part is that the store has free shipping for national orders above 30€...
I have been lucky lately and able to buy most of my most wanted in 48th scale but the shopping spree is coming to an end as i have only two kits left in that list. When i get those, and maybe the Italeri 1/72 F-35C, my "To buy" list will contain only aftermarket bits... until someone releases the T-7 Redhawk or the FC-31 Gyrfalcon...
Regarding sprue cutters, i think that maybe tamiya will be the easiest and cheapest to buy in Portugal, i'll have to look around.
