One apon a time, TSRjoe sent me an artist impresion for a navalized A-129 mangusta, it langwished on my hard drive for a year or so, till I built the italeri kit of a real mangusta, I remembered the drawing just as the last decals were going on the model.

As it happened this was a few days before i headed north for the scotish nationals, via thorvics. I mentioned the project to him, saying ill have to keep my eyes open for another kit, he reaches up to the top shelf of his stash and passes me a mangusta.

I started to hack the kit apart dureing the show, the nose section is a reshaped meteor nose that Wooksta passed to me many moons ago. It slowly took shape, and i finaly decaled it last night.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Size (of the stash) matters.

Great build mate! Love that Sea Skua on it, and the scheme looks great.

I can only find one nit to pick - it's Agusta, not Augusta ;)

Now there's some creative use of the English language !

Very nice bird. Love the colours, and Sea Skuas have got to be the coolest looking missile.

Cheers !

Martin,

Very nicely done.  If you want inspiration for another Mangusta whiff, you could try the European TONAL proposal:

Wow that's one sweet clean helo there Martin! That nose looks like it belongs there and those navy colors and decals are very sharp!

This is so sharp, Martin!  I'd be proud to have a real beauty like this on my shelf.
Wonder what the JMN's would say?  It is so close to being "real" eh?

Great job!

You've had another one of those building periods havn't you Martin !

Bearing in mind I saw you start this at Perth I can't believe how quickly you've finished it. She looks good as well

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That is too cool, Martin!  I like the new nose.

I was gonna comment earlier about the rocket pods. I was going to put them on my bird at first, but thought that it would pretty much be suicide for a chopper to get that close to a Naval target with nowt to hide behind. Unless you're going after land-based foes.

Not really Todd, rockets would make a mess of a patrol boat and scare the poo-poo out fast speedboats, The Naval gunships are designed to go after the smaller naval craft - keep them out of striking range of the fleet whilst the Ship based weapons take on the larger naval targets.

In the first Gulf War FAA Lynx took out some of the Iraqui/captured Kuwati FAC whislt Jags tokk out others with CV-7 rockets.

Looks great martin! I have one sitting unbuilt that I have not yet decided what to do with. I think you made a great choice!
