Woy definitley did it, in the cabinet office with the American memo, to use the Cluedo method. I'm convinced twas even he who ordered the purge.

Would have been better to cancel it years before, when nothing had been built and the money hadn't been spent, but the British don't work that way!

Reckon Wilson's mob were delighted to do it in cos 1) the yanks told them to 2) it was a Tory project and 3) the Labour party was chocked full of soviet sympathisers and sleeper agents in those days, and anything that threatened the Motherland had to be removed.

What gets me is that the whole sinister charade had already been played out with the Avro Arrow, yet they still got away with it. As I always say, how the soviets must have laughed.

QuoteIf you think about it the majority of the prominent JMNs (or, at least the more vocal) are in the US.  .
     ????????

Are you sure about that Tom?  We British have an inherent nerdiness in us that no other nation on Earth possesses.  I remember describing trainspotters to an American friend, and he refused to believe that people collected engine numbers for a hobby!  :P

I think it more likely that it is because the US is more comfortable with the internet than your average UK JMN, which as you say, makes them more vocal.
