What a nightmare this was to build!
The RAF decided to build a dedicated ground attack version of the Mustang, with a mid mounted engine and a cannon firing through the spinner. The pilot's position made it much better for acquiring targets than its contemporaries.

Nice - what scale?

Thanks for your comment. Its a 1/72 unicraft conversion-the resin was really brittle and the propellor went in the bin replaced by aan Aeroclub Seafire 47 part. The exhausts were truly bad and sanded off and replaced and the canopy hardly fitted the fuselage-needing lots of milliput, it was rather badly applied as I see from my photo...
So what I got for my 9 pounds was a pretty badly cast fuselage (it was warped and asymmetric) and a vac formed canopy.

Well you did pretty damn good with it. And I must say the puttywork is a LOT better than some of my best

ah ha ye olde unicraft conversion, mines in the unicraft photo gallery. mine was ok to build, yep the resin is brittle as hell, but its a lot better than some conversions ive tried over the years.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

very nice bit of work there, van.  You do inspire me.  Hmm, I know an S-gun installation similar to the Hurricane's was trialed on a Mustang I, I think that'd look good here.  Since the Mustang wings are fairly interchangeable, I wonder how this would look with a four-cannon wing *and* the podded S-guns underneath?

Oh yeah! Great job van! I am particularly impressed with your work on the exhaust stubs. That color is very realistic!

Nice one Van, you've done a terrific job with the canopy and exhaust IMHO

And Evan how about "P" guns instead of the "S" guns ? More ammo and more streamlined pods ?

Sounds good to me.  Do you have any reference URL's for those?

QuoteHi Evan

Hope this helps

P Guns
Thanks, Chris.  The link from that reference to the picture of the pod on a Tempest doesn't work.  You don't  happen to have either a better link or the picture, do you?
