Hi F-32

CVA-01 was intended to operate the Vigilante and E2 Hawkeye so aircraft of TSR-2 would be feasable. The aircraft would however need a folding nosecone, a folding rudder and probably a revised main undercarriage without the tandem main wheels.

The RN version might have been able to do landings and take off trials on HMS Eagle but i doubt it could be made to fit the deck lifts or even the Hangers.

What picture of a TSR.2 on a carrier ?

I agree that you'd need to upgrade the landing gear.....you could also use the Lightning that Magus produced !

I was thinking the same thing for a navalized Arrow....add some bulges to the under wing to accomodate a dual wheel system, like a Jaguar.

Been thinking about in-service update's of the TSR2, do you think the cockpit conopy would have been changed for one with more plexiglass in it so you could see out more /

I don't know about that.  I've sat in both cockpits of XR220, and whilst the pilot is somwhat snug, the navigator has lots of room.

As for upgrading with a later Tornado style cockpit, I'm not so sure.  The production run (had it gone ahead) would have ended in '73 if not for exports (Germany, Italy possibly, Australia maybe, but they would probably have built their own under licence) and the cockpits were designed as separate units.

Be nice to see an updated version with Tornado style intakes, new cockpit and all the lumps and bumps tho.

Hi Aircavpinkteam

yes i agree my 2000 edition is going ro have a revised navigator console (Tornado Style) and i intend to revise the canopy to give a bit more visibility. The coalholes of the early 60's must have felt very confined.
