Got a better idea for the Long Beach:  Give it the Strike Cruiser refit, then put in Coastie colors

And SM-2's have some surface-to-surface capability built into them, so they'd be just fine.

How about one of the LHAs? Plenty of room for helos plus the well deck for small craft.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Heh, I had an LHD in my backstory for my USCG Agusta Mongoose Interdictor.  I figure the well deck would be a natural for launching rescue boats and interceptors, and the flight deck could handle plenty of helos, all the way up to HV-22's.

Barring an LHD, I also thought about aviation cutters that were actually modified Sea Control Ships.

Here's my Interdictor, with some expanded backstory:

Runway ? ...

This might be totally out of place but I've always thought a full on battleship would look great in USCG colours  :)
I hear the Missouri has nothing else to do at the minute. Wouldn't she at least make a great Coast Guard poster girl  :)
