QuoteBeen alot of interest in Mirages of all types round here lately, myself I've got two itching to get on the bench.
Group build anyone?
If there's a group build about Mirage, I'm in! I got a pile of Mirages now, ranging from well-known flying Mirage to forgotten projects
But soemone has to explain me the rules of a Group-build :)
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Tophe, my apologies on behalf of John Howling-Mouse.

To "make it to" - to put it simply, have you painted your Miravelin further?

To "hold out on someone" - this is to hide something (such as your painted Miravelin) from others (like ourselves, keen to see your brilliance).

By the way, your Miravelin is wonderful, great work!

Tophe

Thanks for the explanations! (sorry not to have understood, I hope my English will be better and better...)
The plastic was grey, and the paint was light blue overall, my way. Humbrol Enamel 65. Since then, I have married and my wife prefers your bright colours, so I tend to change on some new models. But I keep only one colour per model: this is not a military   camo at all, just a pleasant object colour... :)

Here's a bunch of Mirage, including some never-fly projects (ACF, Mirage IVC, Mirage V)
The Mirage G8 (bild from a MiG-23) wait a correct nose radome
Next step : the MegaMirage!!!

Wonderful gallery!
What about the Mega-Mirage air intakes? Will you turn them into actual-Mirage mouses ('souris') or is the unbuilt status a what-if enough criterion for you?  :D

Archibald

Hé hé... crual dilemna! I just can imagine the conflict into the brain of a JMN (sorry... I know yo don't like this expression, and you're right because of the word Nazi used in a coloquial expression)
"Hey its a Mega MIRAGE"
"It is not a Mirage anymore! look at the air intakes! No shick cones, no souris"
"ah like the Rafale, Jaguar or SE for you different air intakes means no Mirage? I think it is still a Mirage because they named it Mega Mirage"
"you can't reach mach 3 with souris its too complicated"
etc. etc etc. (it can last hours!)

Well I'm a 3-view maniac so I'll respect the bi-dimensional air intakes (in every case, its much easy to scratchbuild than Souris, so thanks Marcel Dassault...)
of the picture. And tant pis for the Mirage club... (after all there was no souris in the air intake of the Mirage 01 and III-01. and this plane has a delta wing!)

Nice gallery Archie! I think you like Mirages as much as I love spats! Thanks for the great pic!

Brian da Basher

P.S. Did I mention that I love spats?

Archibald

Maybe I can add spats to a Mirage if you want... to reduce drag before the undercarriage retract in the wings :) diminishing the take off distance

Hmm, looking over that MegaMirage/Mirago 6000, a few thoughts come to mind.  Intakes from a MiG-25 would be a starting place and the windscreen and canopy from the front seat of a CF-105 look very close to what's there.
"Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it."

Archibald

I totally agree with you... this Mirage 6000 look like the combination of
a CF-105 canopy+ MiG-25 fuselage (not only air intakes!) + Mirage 4000 delta wing
This was certainly Dassault answer to the MiG-25
(seen for the first time at Domodedovo in July 1967... the project date back from June 1969, in full MiG-25 terror...)

Ok, here's my first atempt to make a Mega Mirage.

It still need lot of work...

It's already very nice!
It is amazing how you are able to scratchbuild such a model from the 3-view drawing without commercially available kit... Archie, you are great, you are a Mega-Modeller... ;)
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

^_^ Merchi...
I have asked Heller a pile of spares today...in the case they diseaper soon!

Just a thought : if Heller go bankrupt, a no one takeover the firm, the assets would be sold. This mean...
A HUGE PILE OF MODELS FOR CHEAP!!! Heller plant is somewhere in Normandie (61)...not too far from Stephanie's house. YEEEEEEEPEEEEEEE!!!
