Yesterday I sat down to start my balsa P-40E, seeing as it was such a beautiful day.

And, lo and behold, Lana walked in and sat down to continue her F4U-4. Joy of joys - I continued to guide Lana in her painting whilst cementing balsa together.

Lana is doing her Corsair very cleverly - painting every single component whilst on the sprue. Result? Just glue it together and touch it up. Voila - a great-looking Corsair!

Unfortunately I can't post any pics as Lana's dad has run off with my trusty camera, but when it returns to us, rest assured you will see a beautiful example of the bent-wing bird from Connecticut. And, to a lesser extent, a P-40 built from little more than wood and doped tissue.

Woo hoo! I'm so glad to hear of your return to the modelling bench! I've got to admit I was a little depressed to hear of your hiatus, but this post makes my day!

Let me know when you want me to send off the RoG Corsair kit for bashing into the Goodyear bubbletop variant.

i'm VERY glad that you are both back!

Who says that you even have to finish anything? (gets bottles thrown at him)  I come here to bounce ideas off my friends, and just to hang out....i start many, many models, but have finished barely any in the last few years.

as long as you are having fun, it's a good thing!

Wulff,
I have it on pretty good authority Zac's P-40 is indeed the Guillow's balsa wood kit. I'm really looking forward to seeing pics of this build! Also Lana has made progress on her Corsair kit as well. I was fortunate to catch them on MSN a couple nights ago. I was able to find the Guillows website for Zac to drool over.

It's a Zac-Attack! ™

Okay, enough hoopla: both of you get back to work on your airplanes!

BTW, I'm getting some kind of "telephone calling plan" so I can afford to call you direct, Zac.

Excellent Baz, can't wait!

Very brief update - Lana has only to paint the underside of the fuse and elevator white before cementing and touchups! And, if I say so myself, it looks as though Lana's Corsair will be one of the best-looking I have ever, ever seen. Seriously good-looking.

Today I have made miles of progress! The fuselage is complete except for covering ad cockpit detail, so when I get time it's time to do the wings! Everyone I know says that (re)building the wings is the most demanding, time-consuming process on a P-40. Fingers crossed!

BTW, I also finished off the rudder/vertical stabiliser and also started (and completed!) the horizontal stabs.

Im hoping Lana's dad returns my camera soon so I can get pics aplenty - she may be balsa, but I have a killer backstory lined up!

I'll have to push back the wing construction due to having to swap days off (not quite enough people working, lazy sh*t*s <_< ), so I'll be posting a dual update on either Thursday or Friday NZT.

Honestly, I wish I had the camera, as Lana's Corsair is looking sooooooooooo damned good!

K5054NZ

Unfortunately Lana hasn't yet progressed on Corsair 648 (but she did take the wings off the sprue and "assemble" the airframe for a quick sortie! ), but during a two-hour time period yesterday I conquered the wing and centre-section. So all is done, apart from connecting wing halves to the CS and fuse, and doping/covering, but I'll hold off on the latter until I can take some progress pics for you fine gents.

Stay Tuned.
