Hi,

After reading the thread on the Lanc' Firebomber, I thought I'd share this with you.
My project is for a CAF SAR Rescue floatplane and the DHC-8 always struck me as a good candidate for a floatplane conversion.  I think it could be made into a firebomber quite easily.  ;)

I didn't change much, I just put the engines above the wing (to keep the water spray as far away as possible), added a thimble radome to the nose and used some floats from the RVHP XC-47C conversion.  The Dash 8 and C-47 are very close in size and weight judging by a bit of research I did.

Woah that's sweet, Robert!

You've got a great eye for these things!

P.S. I'm hoping when you finish it, you'll post some pics on the Psot Pics of Your Current Project thread.

I just got a woody Robert! You seem to have done one heck of a job on that, can't wait to see some paint on her - please do it quickly! Turning the engines upside-down is a good idea, I did the same thing when I made the Transall Calais

Now, iffen it wuz me, I would have put a planing hull on it and made it a flying boat, as I've mentioned on here before. But I really want to do that to a Dash 7!

Like it!  Great idea and now I wish I had a set of floats that big in my own stash.

Looks great.  Love also what you did to the nose.  Now, splash some paint on her.
What scheme?

Thanks Guys,

I was thinking the yellow and red scheme like a Labrador or Cormorant.

I'm in the process of moving house so everything has been packed, I don't think I'll be able to get back to it until we've settled into the new place.  I hope it's not too long before I do.

Robert,

Very, very nice - looking forward to the finished product.  (I absolutelyl ove amphibians, float planes and anything related!)

QuoteI would have put a planing hull on it and made it a flying boat,

Another option would be to create something similar to the solution proposed for the NauticAir 450:

Hi Rat,

Well I'm trying to sell the house and everything not needed around the house has been packed and put in storage.  Everything that 'personalises' the house we have been advised to remove.

I'm hoping that we move into a new house sometime in the next couple of months and then start my models again around December or something like that.

So I've nt done anything to my models for sometime now as I've been giving the house a reno and it's taking all my spare time.
