The truly sad part is the hints of potential new momentum and resulting products that were hoped for 2007....

Well, here's to continued hopes Airfix will pull through this and make them all a reality.

How are the people coping who lost their jobs?

Wellcome and thanks Johnathan - hope the Phoenix manages to rise from the ashes, best of luck

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Hmmn - Not so sure abaout that, lots of inferance to the brand name not so much as a going concern :( . If Revell get it they will just want the back catalogue to fill out their range possibly using the Airfix name but miore than likely using their own.

Hornby would probably want Humbrol and may try and keep things going or may keep the brand name and use it on premade)either plastic or diecast) and sell the tooling on.

The chances of seeing the Airfix brand continuing as we lovingly know it are slim which is bad for the former staff and bad for the British Modeller in the long run.

We'll have to wait and see whilst hoping for the best and fearing fro the worst.

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

No worse for the British modeller than any other modeller...  It's a small world nowadays.

But there is a distinctly British heritage about Airfix and I think I know how they feel.  I realize the founder, Nicholas Kove, was Hungarian, not British, but I can understand how the Airfix name is a household word in Britain.  I've heard that models are often generically refered to as simply "airfix" in the U.K.  You just don't get that with "Monogram" or "Revell" in North America.

Every guy in or from the U.K. to whom I have sent the Airfix news has quickly responded with their own warm memories of building Airfix kits as kids, even though none of them are currently modellers anymore.

That is a legacy that deserves maximum positive-minded optimism.
Even though much legal wrangling will yet ensue and we realize that the product itself will not simply disappear, nobody should be giving up on Airfix just yet.

I say: Best of luck to you and your colleagues, Mr. Mock!

Modellers of anything used by the nazis excepted <_<  (or not used for that matter).

Then again, if I was a modeller of 1/35 nazi armour, I don't think my wallet could stand it.
