I don't fancy having to change the ammo boxes under fire!

There is that.  I noted early on when the pictures were first posted the bins on each side of the hull top to carry extra ammunition magazines.  I thought about how you could "bugger that for a game of soldiers," as Harry Flashman was wont to say, if I was asked to crew one of these things.  ;)

Okay, found this (1/100th) resin hull in a box of bits at the Crewe Show, and for 25p, it was worth getting just to find out: WHAT THE HELL IS IT? (Never seen that top configuration before....)

Some sort of missile launcher?  It looks like it has two launching hatches to the rear right of the commander's cupola on the hull top.

No idea what that is.  Don't think it is Israeli as have seen most of their variants.  A quick Google images search turned up nothing like it.

But I did find these  ;D

A little less (as in no) armor for this gunner.

or this,

Also would like to do the NASA version.

And a SWAT version.

Jeff Fontaine on BTS has correctly identified it as a German BeobPz M113 G A2 (Bw) artillery observation vehicle. The mounting a the front of the triangle carries a periscope.

Cheers Jeff!

Didn't Verlinden do a 60mm conversion?  I'm thinking I had it at one point and was going to mount it on a LAV-25........

Mossie

Ver' nice!  I made a comment early in this thread about cutting down the hull to produce an Abbot/Falcon analogue, you could do the same with this turret to produce a full light tank.

Of course, has all sorts of applications away from the M113.  I've been thinking some time about a light tank kitbash involving a Saladin hull, M113 tracks and a new turret.  This might have solved the latter problem.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Until I clicked the link I thought it was a smaller scale King Tiger turret
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ooh...I love the 113. That Lone Wulf conversion looks awesome !

A light tank variant of the M-113 armed with a 105mm or 120mm rifled gun would be a great idea.
