I heard about this a long time ago on RecModelScale. Apparently, somebody in the tooling department at Renwal tooled in three little pinups on a bulkhead of the 1:200 scale USS George Washington/Andrew Jackson ballistic missile sub. When one of the execs found out about it, he had it dremelled off, but not after the kits had been on the market for some time.

The kit is still currently available from Revell Germany (At a Canadian price of around $22.00!!) and is actually a pretty neat model, albeit slightly inaccurate. Where else can you get a full cutaway version of a SSBN? Plus it gives you little people in 1:200 scale as well...the scratchbuilding components alone are worth the price! AND...on part number 52 are three tiny little rough rectangles where the pinups used to be!

Now, this piqued my interest. Somewhere out there, there had to be some of these nudie art subs...but the question was: Which one? I wasn't ever able to find out which was the original release, and finally was forced to just keep buying ones off EbAy until I found the right one! After three kits, I finally did it! There...in plain sight, if you know WHERE to look, are the pinups! (However, once assembled, they are very very very well hidden from sight!)

The sub box itself: USS George Washington

Posters measure 7mm and 3 mm tall respectively, so really, they are out of scale!

[freud] Well, the overtly phallic shape of the vessel invites such decorations [/freud] :P

Now we can't wait to see how you paint them!
